The best fried chicken served family style for a real southern experience! It's worth the wait!
This pair of homes date from 1869. They were built in 1869 for Algernon Hartridge using mostly Greek Revival design with Italianate elements.
Wait in line, don't stop eating until you are uncomfortable.
You should come hungry. Do not plan to eat again that day. Maybe the next day too.
Get here early!
Pass the creamed corn, pass the fried chicken, pass the sweet tea. Keep passing, keep chatting, keep having an amazing dining experience.
Skip breakfast, get here at 10, wait til it opens at 11 and laugh at everyone else who turns up to join the 100-long line... Incredible fried chicken. WORTH THE WAIT! BELIEVE!
DAT... FRIED... CHICKEN. If you're not here at least 1 hour before it opens, prepare to wait in line at least 1.5 to 2 hours. Communal tables means great conversations with locals and strangers alike!
Worth the wait- make sure to come at least once when you visit Savannah!
Wait up to an hour outside. But gives u a chance to get to know ur neighbors b4 sharing a family style meal with them. CASH ONLY
Fried chicken was awesome! Excellent stuffing, okra, creamed corn. Everything else good to ok. Only bad thing was the beef stew.
Some of the finest soul food in Savannah. The banana pudding is a must. Don't forget to pick up a copy of the cookbook on your way out so you can (try to) replicate some of the dishes at home.
Don't wear a belt. Do make yourself sick.
Got there at 11 when they opened. Waited 1 hour to get inside. Well worth the wait!! Awesome vegetables and barbeque pork butt was yummy! The biscuits are to die for! Don't eat breakfast before you
Fried chicken that inspires a "pilgrimage"; no reservations and no credit cards.
Do NOT leave savannah without going here!!! It's like your grandma's thanksgiving feast. Be prepared to wait in a long line & don't complain!
best fried chicken I've ever had. a unique experience of family style dining. cash only!
It's family style. Not everyone at your table may understand that.
Unbelievably delicious!!! Creamed corn was the best I've EVER had, the fried chicken was amazing and the sweet potatoes/yams were phenomenal! The almost 2 hour wait was well worth it!
Get in line early, especially if it's a Friday! Waited about 1hr40min to get in. Worth it, but be prepared.
A bit expensive ($18) but food is worth it. Get in line EARLY - we did at about 1135am, got let in at 115pm, on a Friday. Delicious Southern food, liked the tea even though I normally don't.
Absolutely worth the wait! Come prepared to strike up a conversation with your table mates.
It's worth the wait!!!
Great family style meal. About 20 different plates to pass around. Save room for dessert!
So much better than the Lady and Sons this place is a must stop for anyone visiting Savannah. They only take cash but it is cheap and good. Best fried chicken ever.
Try the Mac and Cheese
Enough food to make Thanksgiving dinner look like just a snack. Be sure to try a little of everything on the table. Fried chicken is the best around.
You.Must.Eat.Here! It's an experience. The line. The people. The food. Everything!
While the food is good, it's not worth waiting a hour for. I'm not sure how this place is the institution it is.
$18 pp for 3 meat entrees & 20 sides but 2 hour wait at 10.15am. Good not great food. Candied yams with coconut, red beans and red rice best. Not worth the wait sadly.
Very Short line during the week in the "off season" in December
Definitely worth the wait. Fried chicken beef stew and bar b q beef with 21 side dishes. Go hungry
Go hungry, get there early, bring cash. Something for everyone. Be prepared to sit with strangers.
Good things come to those who wait...
Been here twice this week!! Was to full to taste everything, 26 different dishes on the table at the same time. Some different dishes from two days ago! A MUST place to eat!!!!
Without a doubt, worth the wait!
Worth the wait!! Be in line by 10am!
Definitely the best fried chicken I've ever had. Worth the wait and price!
This place is melt in your mouth good southern food and it doesn't get better than Mrs. Wilkes fried chicken. A dream come true for your palate - you have to come here when in Savannah. Incredible.
We went on a weekday when it opens at 11am. We arrives at 11:15 and the wait was one hour. Folks in line said first seating requires being in line at 9:30. The food is good, experience is incredible.
The best in savannah. Better than Paula Deans any day
Take a lil and pass it around- stand in line early to eat at lunchtime- wait was around an hour and a half
Best southern food ever worth the wait
Don't waste your time parking - walk or take a bike taxi for the perfect Savannah experience!
No matter you get there, be prepared to wait in line. Plenty of on street parking but make sure you have coins for the parking meters - 30 minutes for a $.25. Count on 1.5-2 hours to avoid tickets.
Food is worth the wait in line! Staff is friendly & fried chicken is just like my grandma used to make! Second trip here & worth every minute.
Best southern food and atmosphere:) Hands down!!!
