    Arrive earlier than you need to if you plan to use a credit/debit card at the MTA machines..not cuz the long lines, but cuz you might get a notice saying that you can't purchase a new card

    Avoid the entrance near Havemayer, Manhattan-bound. Sometimes the card reader doesn't work and you have to go down the block to the other entrance. Which is great when you're late for work.
