The Musée de l’Orangerie is a great alternative or complement to the Musée d’Orsay because it’s more compact, impeccably edited, and less crowded, so you can really take your time with the artwork. Read more · October 31, 2011

Absolute stunning museum! Monets huge Waterlilies painings (as seen in Woody Allens Midnight in Paris) and very nice collection of Renoir, Cezanne, Picasso and Monet

On the ground floor, Monet's Nymphéas (not to be missed). On the bottom floor, a vast collection of paitings including works by Renoir, Picasso and Matisse.

Usually a lot less crowded than other major museums in Paris! First check out Monet’s gorgeous Water Lilies, and then proceed downstairs to soak up some Picasso, Renoir and Cezanne.

This is the most beautiful museum in the world! What a shame that the new head of the museum won't allow any photographs.

    Marissa R. · December 31, 2012
  • Andreas N.

Such an impressive museum, but it seems it's easier to gather so many works of Picasso, Monet, Matisse & Renoir, than to teach some English to the employees. Still it totally worths your time.

Compact collection, smaller crowd- my top museum in Paris for peaceful art appreciation. Most well known for Monet's waterlilies but make sure to allocate time to check out the rest as well!

Monet's Waterlillies are the prized gem in this museum. Prints in the gift shop are fairly inexpensive and make up for no cameras being allowed in the actual exhibit.

Enjoyed this, but watch out for the bonkers bag check-in. They want your bag, but then expect you to keep and carry all your valuables round without your bag, if it's bigger than a small handbag!
