Pre-book tickets online. Ticketing purchasing queues even in shoulder season can be epic. Opt for the restaurant over the cafe, it's not much pricier but the food is much better

Go every day for little trips after 17.15 as it's free to enter after 17h and by then the huge lines are gone. The museum closes at six, but if you're a local or on a long(ish) stay you'll be fine. 8)

El Greco and Bosch (here called El Bosco) are the gems of the collection, but don't overlook Raphael, Goya, and Velazquez. Audio guide is definitely worth it. Gift shop is rather pricey.

Absolutely a must visit place in Madrid. The museum is not so large to leave you tired and no so small to make you dissatisfied. Royal collection of European art, as well as Velazquez, Goya, El Greco.
