This is an amazing art museum that definitely should be on every Madrid visitor's agenda. To either join a guided tour, or getting the headsets, are recommended to get the most out of the visit.

If you're thinking of getting the free admission (which you should) get there early. Like before 5:30. Seriously. Even on a Monday night! The queue snakes around the block...

El Greco and Bosch (here called El Bosco) are the gems of the collection, but don't overlook Raphael, Goya, and Velazquez. Audio guide is definitely worth it. Gift shop is rather pricey.

This museum can take at least 4 hours to see. Come early to get a spot in line. There's free museum hours in the evening but the line to get in is much longer than the one in the morning.

If you want to see the Bosch exhibition or other special exhibition make sure you book online in advance. I queued up outside for tickets only to be told at the counter that it was sold out that day.
