Don't miss the U-505 Submarine exhibit, the first enemy warship apprehended by the US Navy since 1815. -- Green Guide Editor
The U-505 is a Type IXC U-boat built by Deutsche Werft AG, Hamburg in 1941. Captured on 4 June 44 by USN Task Force 22.3. Donated to the Museum in 1954 and moved to it's present location in 2004.

Go see the U-505 boat, simply amazing!
One of the main reasons I love this museum is because it is interactive. There is just so much to see and explore because the museum is so huge. Also, they have free demonstrations that are available.
My kids, 11, 8, and 6 like the Storm exhibit. They love all the interactive stuff.
So amazing. Def. recommend visiting
Another perk of membership, besides free or discounted parking? The member lounge on the main level offers a quiet, relaxing space for coffee or hot cocoa, plus an array of comfortable couches.
Try the science.
The new weather exhibit is really neat.
La sección science storms mi favorita
South side museum
See the Whitehouse exhibit, it'll be gone in February
Parking is pricey but covered and convenient. Coal mine and U505 submarine exhibits are standouts. Idea City great for young kids/infants for interactive displays. Museum improvements are very nice!
If you loved Body Worlds, check out Animals Inside. Hopefully, the gorilla & elephant make it out of customs before the show leaves. I would love to see those.
Purchasing a membership is definitely worth it here! Touring the whole museum in one day is quite a feat, especially if you have kids in tow...they also reciprocate with a number of other museums!
Felicia was an excellent guide on the U-505 tour
Make sure to see how much horsepower you can generate here.
Check for Ferris Bueller here.
Go to the main Lobby and try to capture an explosion on your camera!
Wayyyyy too crowded on Christmas weekend.
Check out the submarine, coal mine, airplanes, spaceships and much much more. You might actually learn something.
My personal favorite museum in Chicago. With over 2,000 exhibits, it is the largest science museum in the western hemisphere. Must visit: the German U-boat, and the model railroad.
Easily spend an entire day At this impressive science museum. Enjoyed everything including the coal mine and UBoat exhibits. And just about everything works unlike the Field museum.
Really enjoyed Animals Inside Out
"Yesterday's Main Street" has a Nickelodeon that plays silent movies on a loop. This is a great place for adults to sit and relax for a moment, there are hardly ever any kids at this exhibit.
Only open to four regularly open til 5:30 during holiday season on weekends
Get tickets before you go .......they sell out
There's an exhibit that shows the development of a baby starting from a tiny cell to a fully developed baby. They all died of natural causes and are preserved in jars. Kinda freaky but interesting.
Check out the Japanese garden behind the museum
The Tesla Coil is worth relaxing and waiting for. Awesome experience.
Colleen Moore's Fairy Castle is a classic, but don't forget to listen to the audio on the headseats. It's pretty hilarious.
Christmas around the world, most Christmas Trees ive ever seen!!!!!! always a good time
Always a great place to go on a day off or weekend. Bring the kids!
The indoor tornado may be one of the coolest things I have ever seen! Check it out while it is still on display.
Museu muito completo, com várias atividades de interação.
