People tend to check in during these times:
Don't go here as an impartial tourist. Either prepare the proper mindset or don't go at all.
i expected much more anyway free pass if you dont want guide, you have to make reservation if you want guide cause its always full
Everyone regardless what nationality, religion, idea need to visit this place. Power will make you kill and torture.. Speechless...
If you start here, the guide will take you to Auschwitz ll. Highly recommended.
Peak season April to October requires a guide from 1000 to 1500
What a pity
We should remember how cruel past was and we shouldn't make the same mistakes ever again. Place to be, place to visit.
The organized tour is vey impressive. Try to book a week in advance as the English tours fill up and I saw some American tourists get upset at not getting to go on a tour straight away.
Take 2 to 3 hours for Auschwitz. Birkenau is huge and I'd say you need 3 hours to take it all in. It's overwhelming and surreal. There's a free shuttle bus between the 2 camps.
Once in a live experience.
You must see this part of history no matter who you are. It is a compelling and sad experience
70 years NEVER FORGET
It's hard not to feel anything here, even though you're called emotionally crippled.
It needs more sign from the train station to the camp, there's no sign.
So impressed, lots of information, it needs to spend a full day, the bad thing is it closes at 4pm.
Too much impressions
A "must see" if you are visiting krakow and the south of poland!
40 PLN for the guided tour which lasts around 3 hours. Well worth it.
A must see!! We arranged our trip through escape2poland. It cost approx. £13 pp. They pick you up/drop you off at your hotel. Took around 1hr to get there by bus from Kraków. Full trip took 6hrs!
An awful part of history but a must see! Lots of tours run from Kraków, we used Escape 2 Poland, around £20 per person with hotel pick up included.
Very touching place, good as the end of the trip, more like a 'one time visit', usually people don't go there twice. Worth visiting
"There are no words to describe the enormity of this crime"
Everyone should visit this place
The only tip I can leave is it's a place that everyone should visit. This horrific event should never be forgotten! Moving experience beyond words!
Very moving place but a must see place. Very good guides available and well organised and informative.
ATTN PARENTS: no strollers are allowed! Also no backpacks :/
You can do both Auschwitz and Birkenau in one day but if you are interested in the details and archives you can spend several days. Don't forget to visit the country barracks with their own stories.
Come in as early as possible. Buses from Krakow take almost two hours so you'll have to leave the hotel really early. The tour is 40 zlotys and lasts for 3 1/2 hours. The tour is good value for money.
Totally worth it, you have to come here once in a lifetime.
Memory of people who died here shall never be forgotten. Visiting this place gives a new perspective in life.
I have no words to describe it. Truly the place of horror. All respect to every person who died here. R.I.P.
Everyone should visit this place once in their life. You have learned about it, seen it in movies,... but that's nothing compared to the real thing. And of course, take a guide...
Not only the Jewish people had to suffer, The Romani people also....
Definitely worth a visit. Something which you read in the history books is brought to life by the vivid descriptions of the tour guide
The scary faces on the wall ... True scary ... Shock me..
Very impressive. But did we learn from it???
I could NOT believe how HUGE Birkenau ( Auschwitz II ) is. If you are in the area, you must visit.
A visit to Auschwitz/Birkenau is something that you must do before you die, it is truly moving. It is only an hour from Kraków by car, and should be a top priority to visit.
Why does the Polish gov feel the need to have so many buildings as offices and not exhibits?
definitely take a (early) tour, go for both camps and if your guide tells you don't take photos out of respect, don't do it!
Everyone should visit Auschwitz
"The one who does not remember history is bound to live through it again..." it is the most dramatic place where i had been, everyone should visit here to face up to a part of real history.
Sad, horrible place, God not exists.
Never forget, never again!
If you want to know - you have to see it.
You must see this place as an European.
