    If u prefer a quiet viewing of the art, avoid the guided tour at 11 am given in loud Singlish. Beware of school excursions / tours too. Probably safer to visit in afternoon.

    A must see if you are here in Singapore. However do check online if there are any special events going on as sometimes the museum might close some of the exhibitions.

    More could be done by the guide during the tour. Like the 'card players' has be stolen in 1961 or point out the 'half closed eyes' of the Birth of Venus or that there are 11 stars in 'starry night'...

    This is a truly excellent history museum--so much so that I actually got kicked out at the end of the day when they were trying to close but I wasn't done yet! The moral of the story is to go early :)

    Closest MRT station - Dhoby Ghout or Bras Basah, coffee joint - TCC, Cofee Bean & Starbucks, fast food - Subway, Wendy's & Kopitiam. There's free wireless internet inside the museum at Novus Cafe.

    Beautifully restored from a Parliament building. However as the original building layout was not meant for an museum, repurposing it makes the exhibits confusing at times to view

    The oldest museum in the country, this is where you can learn about Singapore's history. Don't miss the Living Galleries for film, photography, food, and fashion. 93 Stamford Road. Opens at 10 am.

    Great place to learn about singapore. Loved the history gallery. Amazing tour, especially the guided audio tour. It is a must visit.

    Look out for the little commentary boards (extra commentaries) near the benches. Good reads while u rest your feet.

    We haven't finished walking through historic exhibits, hope to return soon while young kiddos are still absorbing infor like sponge and before they grow to next stage of finding it boh-liao.

    Most of the exhibition halls are closed for renovation until Sept 2015. Nothing much to see when I went there in June 2015. However, they do have lots of activities to keep the children entertained.

    Download the museum app. Very useful so you can snap heaps of pictures and go home and refer to the descriptions at your own time.

    Surprised that kiddos whom are at curious stage of "What is this? How to use? What is it for?" are fascinated of olden days items with aid of sound / video clips in comparison to modern items.
