On November 8, 1997, BU played its final football game on Nickerson, defeating UMass, 33-8 in a driving rain.
On September 10, 1981, BU Women's cross country coach, Joan Benoit, worked out at Nickerson Field. She became the first-ever women's Olympic marathon champion at the 1984 games in Los Angeles.

On April 17, 1962, a powder puff football team discussed strategy on the sidelines with coaches. Obviously the game plan included confusing the other team by wearing multiple numbers.
On April 2, 1953, arrows were being shot toward the beloved "Jury Box" bleacher section below the right field scoreboard, where the most boisterous Braves fans used to sit.

Nickerson Field was formerly Braves Field, home for the National League Boston Braves. They played the longest baseball game in history there versus the Brooklyn Dodgers. It lasted 26 innings.
This field was once home to Boston's other Major League team: the Braves who took the name in 1912. Part of the stadium's concrete wall still stands. The Braves moved to Atlanta in 1966 & remain there
