Fishermen's Grotto opened in 1935 as the first sit-down restaurant on San Francisco's world-famous Fisherman's Wharf.
OMG! Clam chouder was freaking delicious! The clam chowder was so good the wonderful and aromatic flavor in the chowder kept our taste buds screaming for more. We will definitely be back.
Great view while having a great meal!!
Best service we've had in all of San Francisco.
The garlic crab is so wonderful I went back and had it again the next day!
it's a beautiful place
Shitty food :/
Great view of the pier, good place to sit and enjoy a bread bowl
Landmark aside, the menu and food preparation haven't changed much since I first went... back in '85 (age 3). Not that that's a bad thing. The spumoni is always good and the booze isn't watered down,
Try the Dungeness Crab sandwich for lunch. Yummy. See photo.
The shrimp dishes are very fresh and good. Don't forget that Bay shrimp are really small tiny shrimp.
Definitely worth checking out for the gift shop that time forgot, the custom fisherman carpet, the diorama and the upstairs bar but skip the chowder. Go to Musee Mecanique after.
Food was good, but nothing exceptional. I will likely not be back - I think I would rather try something else.
The food was Great! We had a half crab and shrimp sandwiches. Service wasn't the best, we sat in the very back against the window. Probably will never eat there again, but glad we tried it.
It was okay. Clam Chowder was tasty but $$$. It was a bit breezy and they would not turn on the radiant heaters. Appetizer came second go figure. I would not return here.
seafood! clam chowder.
Gotta go upstairs to see the groovy decor.
nice staff, nice crabs, 7up instead of Sprite and the most awesome chouder!
Great service, good food (pasta al pesto is a nice choice) and a view to the Golden Gate Bridge (upstairs).
The service was great - friendly bartenders with interesting info about the area.
Pasta with Crab was really good.. and the pasta was 'al dente'.. perfect!
Be careful. They have two menus. One is for local, the other is for tourist. The former is in front of the restaurant. But server brings the latter rip-off menu. Taste is good.
Get the table in the back with the view of the Harbour. This is one if the first restaurants on the Wharf in SF est. 1935.
Avoid the upstairs dining at any cost. They spend more on the atmosphere and look of the place than the quality of the food
Dungeness Crab Sandwich was great views are also but service is a little slow...
Best Food on the Wharf. It has all of the San Francisco eats that you want to try. Crab Cake is to die for. The Market Crab is amazing. The Cioppino is crazy good and the drinks are fantastic.
Place seems a little "worn" since my last visit, but granted that was over 10 years ago
Best. Coffee. Ever. Also, I've never been served in a restaurant better than I have here.
Alexander is the best waiter! He always make sure you have plenty re-fills.
Best service ever, hands down. Please please please remember to tip well!!!!
Skip going inside; high prices and no service
Ask for salmon cakes. You wont regret! Great service ever
Beautiful spot to bring out of towners. Bring my family here every time and always a hit!
Superior Service! Best place to have a bowl of clam chowder in SF. They're oysters on the half shell also really fresh!
Free Sourdough bread, whole crab, two seafood pastas = $85 excl tip. Mediocre food. Nice view of fisherman's wharf.
We sat for 25 minutes and never saw a menu or waiter.
Sit in the back
Not recommended!! Service is beyond slow! Never got a drink refill. Waited 30 minutes just for a check. Halibut was cold and tough and veggies hard as a rock. Food is as old as the establishment.
Best Boston clam chowder ever!
disgusting, chose next door
People watching is amazing here. Make sure to have a cup of coffee. Please tip well.
Them crab legs in garlic butter is tasty
I walked my ass off to get here, here's hopin
Great deals great food and super fresh!
Don't get the Sautéed crab legs. Market price and not tasty. Great service. Overpriced and fair food.
Been coming here for 20 years... the decor and menu might be the same, the food quality certainly isn't. Clam chowder was terrible (compared to the one they serve at Le Boudin), swordfish was just ok.
The fried shrimp appetizer is very tasty!
