The Chicago Park District manages 8100 acres of green space, 583 parks, 26 miles of lakefront, 10 museums, 50 nature areas, & hundreds of programs & events.
Crowded, but a good beach that's close to Navy Pier!
Nicer alternative to the crazies at North Ave, with the beautiful skyline right behind you.
This is less crowded than North Avenue Beach. It is fantastic for people watching and sometimes even boat watching.
Clean beach with an unreal view of the city skyline. Loved it!
Nothing better than tanning with a book here in the summer! Bringing a picnic with you is fun too!
Getting away from a busy center is easy in Chicago, just go here and relax in the sun, dip your feet in the cold water in the lake and get an ice cream fromy a guy who is pushing his cart around.
Watching the Air n Water Show with family.
Loooved this place! Everything looks so friendly, I wanna be there forever 😁
You *pointing* need Spf 1000+. Naturally tan year round over here...
Be sure to use sunscreen at the beach.
Drink and don't be a creep. :-) Love Dirty Uncle Charlie
No drinking on the beach- hide it well!
Sunglasses are must!!!
Less beach space than north ave but a better, less drunk crowd and still a great time!
Swing by the bar/restaurant for an afternoon snack
Head to the Magnificent Mile for lunch or dinner after a day at the beach; it's literally less than a hundred paces away.
Oak street beach is also great in the winter if your dog loves running
Around here on Lakeshore Drive 92.3FM battles for music station strength.
Terrible parking but BEST place to enjoy the Air & Water Show....
DONT GET IN THE WATER
Nice beach right in the middle of the city. Eat elsewhere; food and drink have ballpark prices.
If you forgot ur sunscreen you can pick up a bottle by the Fish Shack/bar
TV chef-lebrity Dale Levitski’s behind Hotel Thrillist’s bar on 7/28 1-4p -- let him mix you a drank!
Jam to DJ Evil One’s beats from 1-4p Sat 7/28 @ Hotel Thrillist. Grandparents agree: “It’s the Devil’s Music!"
Also open till 11p like it's neighbor beaches there is nothing like Oak Street beach on a warm summer night!
Pretty nice beach. It's clean, not as crowded as North Avenue, and it has a pretty great view of the city.
Grab a Chicago style hot dog at the beach cafe in the summer. Chill along Lake Michigan. Bike, rollerblade and run on the paths along Lake Shore Drive. Right near the heart of downtown. A great spot!
Perfect spot for a run during the mornings in the summer!
A great place to chill.
For $10/day rent a lounge chair, it's so worth it!
Life guards (state of illinios) are nazis...they kicked everyone out of the water because of the fog (very light) AND because "nobody was listening to us"
Not too crowded, pretty, and the water is nice. The bathrooms, however, are disgusting.
Live DJ and bar at the North end. Great food, too!
The bathrooms are probably on the top 5 grossest for all of Chicago.
Gurrl, you need a new bathing suit! Take a mid-day shopping walk down Oak Street - you may not come back to the beach. Oh yeah, we're on Twitter too @RackedChicago
Catch some rays and some hotties! Use protection!
So freaking pretty.
Less guidos = more fun. A nice alternative to the suburb saturated North Ave Beach.
Windiest Corner in the city...but I can handle it because I'm mayor. Can you?
Bocceleague.com let's roll, chicago!
There are very few people but quite a few birds here at sunrise.
Oak Street beach in the summer is a great place to sun bathe, dip in Lake Michigan and people watch. You can even run, bike or walk along the entire lake front path for miles. - Nikki
Yeah polar bear club!
see the air and water show
