Terminal 2 definitely seems like the more happening spot. More diverse food options, a wine bar, and a pub. Terminal 1 has lots of plug-in spots but only offers a Chilli's and mall-familiar pan-Asian.

If your gonna stay overnight at the airport, better make sure you grab a bench seat before 10pm. There is only a few and they fill up fast. Sleeping there is fine. Sandwich $8 water bottle $3

Lots of private parking lots where you can get parking for as low as 5$ a day with prior online booking. Have tried 'park n travel' and was very pleased. Perfect for a weekend trip.

Park at Espresso Parking - best in town, and pickup a chicken BBQ salad from CPK to eat ON the plane (to pass the time) - but be sure to get extra dressing or you'll be disappointed at 35k feet....

At security checkpoint, please move all your bins forwards as you stuff them so we dont have to wait in a line behind you. don't take it personally if I leapfrog you with all that space ahead of you.

If the security line a Terminal 1 (Southwest) is super long, just take the short walk to Terminal 1 where there's usually no or little line. Best way to navigate OAK. Especially during the holidays.

best deal in the airport on healthy food: andale's chicken salad without chicken. $8 for a huuuuge salad of non-iceberg lettuce, avocados, tomatoes, goat cheese. get it with dressing on the side.

If you plan to use BART, get off at Coliseum and use Air Shuttle. Pretty easy and cost $3 for one way. The cool tips here is you can use left over BART tickets like a couple of $1.45 plus 10 cent.

Definitely usually cheaper, but if you're coming from San Francisco plan on driving or using a shuttle/cab as the mass transit route to OAK isn't direct and the transfer point is not in a safe area.

Want to get to BART station quickly? Take the AC Transit Route 73 bus headed to Eastmont Transit Center. Cheaper and quicker than Air BART and there are usually no long lines. Clipper cards accepted.

If you're using public transit, this is a great alternative to SFO. The BART/shuttle transfer to OAK is a little annoying, but totally worth it if you want to breeze through check-in and security.

Morning flight out of the Southwest Terminal? The Starbucks after the moving walkway is always has a super long line. Skip it, walk down a little further to Peets, which usually has no line.

The airbart to the coliseum takes $3 cash only. Get your change from a cah dispenser machine right before exiting the airport building (I found one right next to the door near jetblue exit)

Skip the hussle of paper tickets and use the app. You avoid one line only to get to a much longer security line. It's okay just have more than at least 1 hr before boarding. Safe travels

Fly Southwest they have the best terminal here with comfy seats and electrical outlets everywhere. Don't leave security if you have a long wait for your ride all the bars are behind security

Über has a fixed rate into San Francisco of $85 which is usually equal to or cheaper than taxi + tip. Cabs out of OAK are the grossest in the Bay Area. this is an IQ test people!

If the security line in the Terminal 2 (Southwest Airlines) building is too long, it may be worth it to walk to Terminal 1 and do security there since the airport connects all gates in the back.

No matter what airline your fly, make sure you're at the gate 45 minutes to an hour prior to departure. Doors close 10 minutes prior to departure. Airplanes don't wait for you, YOU wait for airplanes.

AirBart to Bart is near Carousel 4, where you pick up your bags. It's at the 3rd curb, and then you turn right and you should see it. It's about 12 minutes to the Bart, then you go from there!

Don't eat at Maxs deli. Steadily going downhill. Watery turkey, wilted onions, no potato salad, no wheat bread. It was gross. $2.79 for a little bag of chips. Corp in San Ramon should be embarrassed

For goodness sakes, hire some staff. The wait for check-in was ridiculous, and so was the security check-in. Come on, the economy is rebounding, hire some more workers.

Really hate this airport. It is dirty and smells. Limited options for food. One place had music so loud it was echoing throughout the gate. Get me out of here and I am not coming back.

If coming or going by BART do not forget to have $3 in either cash or BART tickets. They do accept combinations, just so long as it all equals at least $3.

The shuttle vans by the Bart bus stop will often take you to San Francisco for $10, BUT they are not allowed to solicit riders. Ask them for a deal and you'll get it.
