The Metra French Market is a hidden gem of every type of cuisine you might have a taste for. Use the bathrooms before or after train. Free WiFi, get your beer at the beer store next to Ovie’s Bar.
The atmosphere changes drastically weekend to week day. During the week it's expected that you are quiet. No phones. Etc. Weekend crowds can get rowdy.
1. There's a second entrance between Randolph and Washington on both Clinton and Canal. 2. You can drink on the train. 3. If you don't have time to purchase a ticket, use the Ventra app.
Being from out of town I needed guidance going out to burbs. Staff kind & helpful. On platform I felt like asking “where is platform 9 and 3/4” because it was like Harry Potter cool
Usually good. Make sure you get there in time to purchase a ticket. They need more machines. They were out of one ways at the machine. $5 surcharge on train if you don't buy ticket before boarding!
If you are in the Quiet Car you ARE required to be quiet; however, if you are not in a quiet car and expect silence then you are just as annoying as the noisy person in the Quiet Car.
If you're going to get a beer for your ride home, avoid the bars located upstairs in the station, instead go to CVS, one at Madison and Canal and one inside the Metra Market, spend $2 instead of $5
If you'd like to get a seat on the train, be sure to arrive at least 10-15 minutes before departure time. Trains do depart on time (unless otherwise specified).
When boarding trains u can always tell if the door is open if there is a red light above it Also pay attention when walking into other cars if there is a big sliver screen blocking the way its closed
Be sure to check the information board infront of each track. It will give departure time, stations it will be stopping & any track changes that might occur.
If you are talking and suddenly notice that you are the loudest person talking because you're the ONLY one talking... Chances are you're in the Quiet Car. Get up and move to a non-quiet car.
Most of the cars for the Metra UP West Line from OTC to Elburn do not have working water faucets in the restrooms (probably true for other trains), so bring hand sanitizer or use the ones provided.
Conductors love telling everyone this on the trains: "Seats are for butts, floors are for feet." Therefore, keep your feet on the floor unless you wanna get yelled at.
While in line to pay for ANYTHING, BE ALERT! Thiefs now use cameras to take photos of your credit card information. While holding your card, cover the numbers
If you are told to be quiet or to stop talking on your cell phone in the Quiet Car please don't have an attitude about it. It's nothing personal - you're in the Quiet Car.
If you are in the Quiet Car with a "talker" and would like to tell that person that they need to be quiet because they are in the Quiet Car don't be rude about it. It's ok to be polite.

The Richard B. Ogilvie Transportation Center is an intriguing blend of the old and the new, long serving as the terminus for some of Chicago’s most celebrated train routes but now connected to the sleek lobby of a modern glass skyscraper.
