tip: always know your surroundings.. its best to get a seat where your back is against a wall... No one can approach you through a wall, and you can remain alert to the other areas surrounding you

When boarding trains u can always tell if the door is open if there is a red light above it Also pay attention when walking into other cars if there is a big sliver screen blocking the way its closed

Usually good. Make sure you get there in time to purchase a ticket. They need more machines. They were out of one ways at the machine. $5 surcharge on train if you don't buy ticket before boarding!

escalator is for people who have luggage, and/or don't want to use the stairs...so, the escalator etiquette is: use the stairs if you are really that worried about traffic flow on the escalator!

Be sure to check the information board infront of each track. It will give departure time, stations it will be stopping & any track changes that might occur.

Buy your tickets at the station, otherwise they will charge a $3 surcharge along with the price of your ticket if you buy it on the train. Also, the cost of the weekend pass has increased to $7.

Starbucks on pedestrian concourse over Canal St. to Chicago water taxi is out of Bistro boxes on Saturday. Larger Starbucks on Clinton St. is closed on Saturday. Huge #FAIL . Do better Starbucks. 😒

The atmosphere changes drastically weekend to week day. During the week it's expected that you are quiet. No phones. Etc. Weekend crowds can get rowdy.

The cafeteria is great, over 20 places to choose from, if you go on the lower level is has shops, and even more restaurants.

Try the Ventra app if you can't wait in line for tickets or don't want to pay surcharge on the train. Very convenient!

If you're going to get a beer for your ride home, avoid the bars located upstairs in the station, instead go to CVS, one at Madison and Canal and one inside the Metra Market, spend $2 instead of $5

For the first timers, there's a walkway on the second floor which goes over Canal street and can save you from the cold and waiting for traffic.

Stairwells from train platform to French Market are closed on Saturdays. Have to go downstairs, OUTSIDE and up the street (Clinton). Huge #FAIL . Do better Metra.

If you are in the Quiet Car you ARE required to be quiet; however, if you are not in a quiet car and expect silence then you are just as annoying as the noisy person in the Quiet Car.

The Quiet Cars are the second car from the first car and the car before the last car. That's 2 Quiet Cars per train. It doesn't get simpler than that.

Most of the cars for the Metra UP West Line from OTC to Elburn do not have working water faucets in the restrooms (probably true for other trains), so bring hand sanitizer or use the ones provided.

If you bring on the train it's best to get a window seat. There's a little ledge by your left foot that's great for resting your drink on.

The 6:10 UP-W OB has a lot of people who like to sardine-can themselves onto a speeding metal tube. Get here early or make friends with the guy who's going to dry hump you all the way home. Fail.

Etiquette: When using the escalator, stay to the right if you're going to stay on one step. Let those going up or down faster pass you on the left.

Buy your tickets in the city or the station. There can be a $2-3 fee if the station was open and you waited to buy on the train.
