Love this airport still... I always experience smooth and efficient security, friendly airline agents and Amy at the bar always serves with smiles... Even on a hectic Friday it's a great airport!
Security lines usually aren't very long. But make sure to eat before getting to the airport. The options are very limited once you are there, and it's not really cooked fresh either
Trivia: You have landed in Nebraska, but will travel through Iowa as you drive out of the airport. It's an Iowa town (Carter Lake) stranded by a 1.25 mile shift of the river during an 1877 flood.
Great airport, good layout. Easy to get from TSA to all gates. Full TSA line which is great in the regional airports. Very clean and friendly staff.
Although you can show up like 15 minutes before your flight and still make it, some airlines won't let you check in if it's within 30 minutes of takeoff.
Don't wear anything with sparkles and for heaven sakes don't wear hand lotion! If you do this they will take you into a little room and really pat you down!
Everything is great about Eppley except the airlines themselves..Delta is the worst, the rest are tied for second worst...but Eppley itself, awesome...
Long layover or arrive early? Peace and quiet with plenty of room to relax on the 2nd floor between the two terminals. Free Wi-Fi.
If you somehow lost your id during your layover like I did, TSA will accept alternate proofs of id such as credit cards, prescription meds with address, other photo ids, MMS pic of expired ids, etc.
The retail, food and beverage situation at this airport is abysmal. Horrible 1st iimpression for people traveling to this state. Kracky McGees-yuk? @Omaairport you need an overhaul!
There is nothing to do at this airport except maybe order some steaks for delivery. Plan your arrival accordingly and dont spend more time than you need to!!
Currently staying overnight and i havent been bothered by security. However if you stay overnight, prepare for said security to gravitate toward you.
If you're a fan of Omaha Steaks Company, there is a booth right as you leave security where you can order anything you want to ship.
If you're flying united make sure you check in at least 30 mins before the flight or they'll totally kick you off! Even if you're exactly 30 mins before!
My experience-- OMA is one of the best/easiest airports to travel through! Security is efficient, evening bartender is great, staff friendly!
Clean and modern commuter (small) airport. Rental car pick-up and drop-off was just located across the airport (10-min walk from our terminal?).
Be nice to all the airline agents, its not our fault flights cancel and delay, all agents will be more likely to help you if you treat them in a respectful manor
If TSA tries to steal your shit (i.e. knives, liquids over 4 ounces) you can always mail it to yourself. The gift shop has postage and envelopes for just such an occasion
Omaha steaks outside the terminal - great deals. And if you buy, they give you ice packs and a bag to carry your steaks!
Buy Omaha Steaks (on both sides of the airport before security check point) as a souvenier. Will stay frozen 8 hours or so. Great surprise for loved ones. Super tasty.
If you are getting a rental car it's a million miles to go pick it up, however, if you as they will bring it around for you!
Small airport. It will take much longer for your bags to arrive at the baggage claim than it will for you to. So take your time.
Use mobile check-in for your boarding passes and you'll fly right through. Otherwise, there aren't enough kiosks and the lines move slow. TSA agents are pretty friendly though!
Don't forget a good book. There's a really nice bookstore (Hudson Booksellers) on the second floor with a great selection.
Parking is always a problem. Make sure you arrive at least an hour to an hour and a half before your flight is scheduled to leave. Security is slow.
I firmly believe that you must poses an IQ below 80 to work for the TSA. Maybe it's a federal aid program for the incompetent. Especially the little blonde on the A side.
No fast track lane for SWA or through security. So for biz travelers, don't plan to cut it too close. Even so...they usually move things along fairly quickly.
Plenty of food/drink options in Concourse B. Scooters, Godfathers Pizza, and pub. P
Really should only have to be here 45 min-1 hr before your flight. It's really fast from drop off to gate. Also get food beforehand because there is really no good places to eat in here
Security is a breeze. Even with a small line, it's less than 10 minutes from curbside to gate. No need to get here early!
The rental car return exit is thru the passenger pickup/drop off at terminal. Keep driving and take the second left into a small entrance. I know it's weird!
If you are waiting for your southwest flight you should try and score one of the nice chairs to relax in.
TSA here is the slowest of any airport I've been to. O'Hare has nothing on the backup you get here with their single body scanner.
One of the most inconsiderate airports when it comes to travelers!!! People put your bins up after security!!
Always getting felt up, but at least it's always done with a smile. The TSA agents are always very friendly. It's the Midwestern charm.
Welcome to Omaha - home of the College World Series! In between games, stop by the new Nike Fieldhouse at 1502 Mike Fahey Street for the ultimate Nike Baseball experience.
Welcome to... "Somewhere in middle America. I Think you better turn your ticket in, and get your money back at the door, OMAHA! - Counting Crowes
Large or small conference rooms are available for rent in the upper level of the North terminal.
Easiest airport to go through. Got here about half an hour early and had to drop off rental car but still made it through security with 15 min. To spare
Scooters has pretzels and hummus! So delicious if you need a yummy snack. :). Super easy to get through security Sunday afternoon also.
Print your boarding pass (or use a mobile pass) and bypass checkin. Security line usually takes 15 minutes tops--even when busy.
One of the best airports to fly in and out of anywhere. Always clean & efficient.
Always flattering to get carded at the airport bar when you're 41. At least it's a direct to Newark. (If only they were on time once in a while.)
Security is a joke, it's only quick if you're white and dressed like an idiot. Otherwise get in line for the full body scan.
Love flying out of OMA! Eat at The Hanger! Friendly waitresses and great food.
NO traffic & TWO officers came at the car after less than 2 min saying bye? Seriously? I don't feel safe, I feel harassed. Don't stop your car in the drop off lane...
Delta, Continental and United now offer mobile boarding passes for Flights out of Omaha. Save paper and look cool in the process.
Kracky McGees near A4 -> Great food, good prices, friendly staff (try the carrot cake).
Before going through security you have to go to the cookie stand downstairs they have the best rice krispy treats.
