One of the longer standing gourmet coffee hangouts with reliably strong brews and an ace location in the city centre for a shopping pitstop near Orchard Central/313 Somerset.
Good coffee (including competition coffee: a couple of coffee concoctions they come up with from time to time), tea, and outdoor seating for some people watching in the heart of Orchard Road.
Had the Southern Fried chicken and waffles that day. What we got was tasteless chicken from a packet and 3/4 a waffle doused in an overly sweet maple bourbon sauce. Avoid this dish.
Best coffee around Orchard! They takeaway counter closes at 5pm but the cafe/bar serves coffee till 11pm on Sun-Thu and 12am on Fri/Sat
I was skeptical going in because of the fancy interior and a list location. But the pour over coffee is well made and the beans are on point. Plus, only 5 SGD. Go.
Avoid! On a first look: healthy & gluten-free options but all is loaded with sugar including kale salad. Unfortunately their espresso drinks are bad - burnt, overexteacted and piccolo is huge!
Proper flat white using double espresso shots. You taste the difference from other places who claim a flat white when it is just a latte.
Beef cheek tagliatalle: the cow must have been slapped silly bcos the meat is soooo tender & flavorful. I'm surprised it's even still intact even after my teeth sink into this dish.
They "vegetarian-ized" a dish for us. The waiter didn't hesitate for a second. He just said, "Sure, we can do that." Very rare in everything-by-the-book Singapore. Thumbs up!
Must try the spicy calamari. It's not your usual batter-fried stuff. Each squid ring is coated with a masala and paprika rub which gives it a tangy, spicy flavour.
Never get yourself a fresh juice here. When asked whether it's freshly squeezed, the waitress explained: It's from the bottle with a label that reads freshly squeezed. Wow.
Interiors, look plus menu on offer, are new & improved but yellow cups & saucies remain. (Brand new heavies, en #mas)
Try the beef cheek tagiatelle, fish and chips and the Jamaican "Jerk" chicken. Oh, and if you're here on Saturdays there's a live band from 8pm - 10pm
The cafe is under going renovations. Will re open again in mid-December 2014. They have a temporary stall outside selling coffee till 3pm daily
Best coffee you can get in Orchard. It also serves the best fish and chips I eaten in Singapore!
The Cubano sandwich is hands down one of the best sandwiches you can get in Singapore. Deceptively simple but full of flavour and texture. Yums!
Worstest ice lemon tea I had in my life... EVER. Waiter's face actually registered disappointment when we didn't order his recommendation of their "popular" sticky date pudding. WTF!
Good location. Usually crowded. Been here three times and still not convinced with the claim that this place serves the best coffee in town.
Quite a nice place to have a meal and chill with your friends. I remember having main course and it didn't cost more than 20 bucks.
Food is so so ~ mostly bland and non exciting. Steak had some mismatched (indian spiced) sauce in its fries. Would not dare bring friends here.
Love it! Wonderful idea to have refreshing menu changes so frequently; though tough on the chef (kudos). Good taste & great pricing.
The desserts are awesome, ETON MESS! you gotta try it; definitely nothing lesser than a taste of heaven for the sweet tooth!
Oh yeah. Probably a trendy place, service good but honestly, food is shit. Stale scones and average coffee. The scones are tiny too, not like real scones.
Should change their name to Bistro & Bar if there's an 8pm cutoff time serving coffee. Saw 3 tables of people leave because they expected hot coffee.
Alway like coming here. Nice ambience and good food! Coffee is great! Always the traditionalist with the picolo latte.
Kinda disappointed. English breakfast is average. Low quality coffee bean produce low quality coffee. Expensive price.
the honey crumble affogato is soooo delish - how can one go wrong with ice cream, espresso and honey crumble? mmm.
everyone raves bout the coffee here, but personally, mine didn't live up to the hype. my pick? cafe beviammo at Tanglin Mall.
crowded, noisy, expensive, unfriendly stuff. they maybe make a good coffee here (nothing exceptional anyway), but I don't like the place
Ordered butter milk chicken and salmon Benedict. The taste was heavenly!! I recommend ppl to try it.
Try the Chicken Tikka if you're into fingerfood, for a main course, I'd recommend the Beef Cheek Tagliatelle
Really would come back for their cubano and sticky date pudding
Risotta crispy salted cod fish, bangers n mash are pretty good. Wine n beer 6 dollars before 8pm
Not terribly impressed with the Sunday brunch menu. You can get bigger and better portions elsewhere. Nice deco though.
The service is good.. Got a bottle of wine, and the wait staff comes often to refill out glasses! :)
fish n chips can be shared by two. love the shaved Parmesan hidden amongst the chips.
The Cubano, although not huge, is one of the best tasting sandwiches I've had in Singapore
Satisfied portion for a green salad with feta, 19$. Ok service.
Came here for breakfast, he food is so so, the coffee is ok, at least has some "uumph"!!
Great ambience! Great place to chill and rest after a long day of shopping with your gf.
Flat white not great. Lacking a good coffee taste. Sticky date pudding, however, wasn't that bad at all :)
Try the Chili Chocolate Mocha. Great blend of thick chocolate, fresh roasted coffee, and chili essence
Go chill out at this hidden gem before the wall that separates this heaven and hell (crowds from 313@Somerset) comes down.
Raven bean is suggested if you prefer espresso with sweet & no acid taste
Sunday brunch from 10.30am to 3pm. Slightly overpriced for the portion served. French toast was good though.
Great coffee and good food!! Def a place worth trying and to visit again!!
The espresso here is exceptional. Definitely my favorite in Somerset.
love e honeycomb affogato. one of e best I've tried. capellini crabmeat kinda dry
Try the Mad Milk - #macadamia #almond #dates (via @Foodspotting)
