If you don't want to take a cab to go downtown, you can use the public transportation. It's really cheap - 3,50 RON - and fast. Also, the coffee from Gloria Jean's is the best!

The only safe way to get a taxi is to use the touch terminals on the right side, as you exit the luggage pick up section. You will be able to select company and, more important, price per km.

How to get a taxi: In the arrivals hall you will see a number of self-service ATM-like machines. Simply use one to order a taxi from the company of your choice. Do not pay more than 1.39 lei per km. Read more

Use a free application like would be Star Taxi to call a common taxi, then go to get the confirmation of access to one of the desks of the arrivals hall (taxi company and taxi ID). More useful info: Read more

Small but efficient. They renewed the airport partially and it is still quite big compared to number of passengers. Have a look at the dead left cars in the airport parking place :)

Souvenirs in duty free shops are much expensive than outside. Magnets start from 5 euro whereas outside can be purchased from 2.5 euro, for example. It goes for all types of souvenirs )

DO NOT use the exchange in the Departures. Go towards Arrivals, 3 min walk, right on the left after BRD Bank you get a proper rate. As in 5.32RON for 1GBP, compared with 6.03RON/GBP. You do the math.

If you need a cab (taxi), the best way is to order it from the machine placed at ,,arrives,, area. The cheapest prices are better,it means more serious& honest drivers and of course...the price.

When arriving, take the bus 783 to downtown. Only 7 RON for two trips. When leaving, use the security screening in the new hall, it is much less crowded.

If your flight doesn't show up on the Flight Boarding Panels, just wait. If your plane is at 17:00 and the last flight on the panel is at 16:50 or 16:55, your flight will appear on it soon enough.

It's not a huge airport, so you can move through it fairly quickly. There is free wifi. Don't bother with the duty-free shops. If you're just arriving, go to departures (short walk) for a cab.

To get to town use the self-service taxi machines in the arrivals hall. Choose the taxi company you want, take the ticket and go outside to wait for your cab. Do not use the 'Rapid' taxis downstairs.

Allow plenty of time on Sunday afternoons to get through security and passport control. Romania unlike the U.K. checks passports going out of the country.

Always ask the taxi drivers to use meter...if possible at departure check "eye browse" the on-board number of kilometers and compare with the number displayed at arrival. A simple calc to be safe.

LOL! :-) They don't accept their local currency LEU in the duty free shops. Nevertheless there's still a possibility to get rid of the remaining LEU in the exchange office next to the cash desk #3.

If you decide to go for a taxi, be it "official" airport taxi (means nothing in Romania) or any other, always say that you need a receipt from the meter (!) BEFORE the ride. Will be a ripoff otherwise
