You can leave the train at Opera station. This station is 400 meters from Royal Palace. Very easy to get to the palace that is amazing with beautiful paints!!!

Nice to see the temporal juxtaposed with the spiritual: Cathedral is next door.

This palace of the official residence of the King, used for state ceremonies. Look at the 50 impressive ornate rooms available to the public. Highlights are the Royal Chapel and the Porcelain Room.

I've seen many palaces yet this ranks among the best. They don't allow photos in areas but this is still possible..

To enter is €10 each, and the self-guided tour does not offer enough explanatory material for my taste. I wish I'd had the audio guide for another €4.

Great views of Madrid, lovely walk around the gardens and you can have a look for free but there is a charge to tour the inside of the palace but it's worth it :-)

If you don't speak Spanish, get the audio guide! Almost all of the placards are in Spanish. In the palace interior, some are in English. But in the armory and other parts it is purely Spanish.

The palace is gorgeous both inside and out. Saturated in history and talent or is certainly not a spot you want to miss.

If you want to make it for the free admission be sure to be around the palace at least 15 mins before free admission starts. Otherwise you will be facing one of the longest queues ever :)

The fact that they don't warn you about their no-photo policy in the palace halls is kind of deceptive considering nearly all museums allow no-flash photography.
