The baked goods are the standout here, like the $3 fluffy biscuits, which you can stuff with scrambled eggs and melted pepper-jack cheese. Featured in Where to Eat 2011!
The menu is an upscale American diner concept, with biscuits & sandwiches topped with ingredients like ham & trout, cured & smoked in-house, respectively.
my favorite place in the city. Here's what you need to do. 1) order the shrimp + grits (wow!), 2) order the La Chouffe beer (seasonal and awesome), 3) build a biscuit (bacon + pepperjack). Game over!
Peels' biscuits are an abomination. Their enduring popularity is offensive to my Southern sensibilities. A friend and colleague put it best when he said they are "fit for yankees".
They serve Sir Kensington's ketchup! Ain't no Heinz here fool!!
The view from upstairs is great, if you get the choice find a cozy booth up there
We love the monkey bread! (Note: no monkeys are harmed in the making of this bread)
They just added fish tacos to the menu and they're the cat's pajamas. Seriously. Order them.
Try the Sweet Potato Pie and spot it on Foodspotting!
Build-a-Biscuit, I dare ya!
Don't even think about saying "no" to the biscuits. Don't.
It's not worth $18, but the baja salad with tomato, avocado, cotija cheese, and grilled skirt steak is unbelievably tasty and vaguely healthy.
Sit upstairs - super nice !
Get a Peels muffin. Buckwheat & lemon marmalade with rosemary. It may seem weird at first, but just go with it. You won't regret it.
Get the gobblecado - its a great lunch sandwich with awesome spicy chips
Try the bloody mary: comes with either a lemon, lime, or olive. Top 3 in the area.
Go splitty splitty with a pal - Gobblecado and grass fed burger. Do it!
try a biscuit and a coffee for a great afternoon snack + pick-me-up. get the amazing jelly on the side.
For dinner, get the pork loin w/ sweet potato mash & crabapple compote (as the server said, "It's Fall on a plate") or the lamb shank w/ stewed beans. Wash down with complimentary sparkling water.
Peels is all about the iced coffee. It's cold-brewed and some of the most delicious in the neighborhood.
This is one of my go-to "cute" places. Between the build-a-biscuit, pastry case, Stumptown Roasters coffee, and Southern-inspired menu, I end up here a lot. Try the grits if you're really hungry.
Awesome fucken pancakes
Build your own biscuit. Build your own biscuit. BUILD YOUR OWN BISCUIT!
Amazing biscuits! Splurge for the $1 honey butter. You won't regret it!
get a biscuit and a coffee for a great afternoon snack
luv, luv, luv it here! build--biscuit, brilliant. they have stumptown coffee 2. feels like ur on a hipster movie set. can't wait 2 come back 4 dinner.
Build your own biscuit. Do it.
Try the Fried Chicken Sandwich - Juicy, crispy, an about as good a #sandwich as I've ever eaten (via @Foodspotting)
Delicious baked goods to go or lovely Southern-inspired sit-down spot
Good place to go if you're famous. Emma Stone was sitting next to me and no one bothered her...accept me. I'm kinda lame like that.
The weekend brunch line may be long and it ain't cheap, but the build-a-biscuit with fried chicken and gravy and the absinthe-laced cocktails are good enough to make you forget how long you waited.
Brunch is the best meal here. Try the Roasted Tomato Eggs Benedict (made w/a biscuit instead of English muffin)... Heaven.
build your own biscuit. great spot, but gotta be ready for a bit of a wait.
One of my favorite burgers. A nice balance between fast food style (shredded lettuce, highly seared patty, potato bun) and restaurant style (white cheddar, caramelized onions).
Try the Buttermilk Biscuit With Sausage & Egg and spot it on Foodspotting!
as beyonce once said, i dont think you're ready for this jelly...biscuit.
B. This place got a B. I asked for an explanation and was given a vague evasive
Leave room for dessert and try their loaded milkshakes!
No need to wait for a table, the bar staff is excellente. And, for a good time call Bruce starr.
Build a biscuit and add the gravy, it's well worth it! Just be careful, the waiter might yell at you for being too loud/having a good time during brunch!
Gobblecado is the best turkey sandy in NYC and the bakery and build-a-biscuit are yummy too!
Go straight upstairs to the bar and order your drinks from their incredibly good looking bartenders! We’ll have a Buddha’s Prayer followed by an Ichabod’s Old Fashion.
Winner of Best Use of Pecans in the Village Voice 2011 Best Of issue! The sticky bun is just, too good for words. Come early - they sell out!
