Take a free SIM card from True before the passport control and load it in 7/11. You can get unlimited internet for 30 days with 3G+ (but don't watch movies with it, high speed disappears after 1gb:)

Phuket G-tip: Tuk-tuks do not have meters. Always ask for a price before getting into a taxi or a tuk-tuk and don’t hesitate to bargain! Short distances around town should not cost more than 40 baht. Read more

The immigration lines both incoming and outgoing are the most insane lines I have ever seen at any airport in the world. Disorganized and non functional. Plan to spend at least 1.5 hrs in line.

By the exits are big blue posters on the walls warning you of the maximum allowed taxi fares to various parts of the island. Don't let yourself get cheated by the people pushing you in the terminal!

Taxi prices in Phuket are expensive in general. If you're travelling solo or as a couple, get a mini bus to your hotel instead for 150-200THB/person. You could easily spot them as you exit customs.

A must visit place for any tourist, the Big Buddha stands on top of the Nakkerd Hills and is visible from most of the southern region. It's the best place to take in the sights of the city.

crowded airport where you need to get in a line every second. Needs refurbishment, such a touristic place deserves a better one. Views during landing and take-off are amazing, don't miss it:

The mini-buses you need to take from here will take you to a "booking-agency". They'll get pissed if you don't book a hotel with them, so just tell them you've already found one.

Make sure you plan your trip ahead. If you're arriving anytime before 7am, there are no minibuses. If you're traveling alone, mini buses are ideal as its only THB180 to Patong from the airport.

Exit the airport building and go right. You will find the "Taximeter" taxi cars. Much cheaper than other taxis. For Rawai we pay 600 bath (750 - airport taxi and 1200 - taxi mafia).
