We recently moved a few blocks away! Check out our new & improved, larger location!
Whatever you do, get the maduras. The best sweet plantains in Brooklyn.
Try the grilled cheese and steak sandwich! Both are delicious. The coffee is really good too.
NOT CHEAP, I repeat, not cheap. But if you can swing it: grilled shrimp and grilled cheese sandwiches are where it's at. Sangria did not have alcohol in it.
The food is cheap and good. What's not cheap...sparkling water.
The food is delicious but their wine serving is only a sip.
Seafood risotto was delicious but too small to share. We happily ordered a carafe of the Malbec. A typical bottle is 4.5 glasses, but the carafe is closer to 5.5. Shrimp entree is super garlic-y.
We have recently moved to a much larger location nearby, with more seats and a larger kitchen... which means much more delicious Cuban Comfort Food. Visit our mini-Havana!!
They're moving to a new location on 1/25/15 I think. I walked by and the sign said Greene and Bedford. I love the cortaditos and the ropa vieja.
Get the passion fruit flan
The Cuban mocha latté & the café con leche are great on cold days
Picadillo empanadas are great. Remind me of filipino-style empanadas
Get the roast pork with rice beans and to stones, and then a nice Cuban coffee to seal the meal. My fiancé is Cuban and loves this place to get his fix of Cuban food
Don't you dare not get the croquettes.
The Picadillo is my favorite. I am sitting dreaming about it right now.
Sweet plantains ftw
Amazing corn stew on the weekends
The crack grilled cheese is one of the best in Brooklyn. Fried plantains, cheddar & gruyere. I dream about this GC.
Get the potage de garbanzo...smoky and hearty enough for a light meal.
. Cant go wrong with the pork, tortilla but they truly have the BEST grilled cheese on the planet!!. The bread is nutty, cheese delicious and plantains inside a melding of texture and flavor
Best black beans and rice I've had in NYC. Will def be coming back often...
You're not going to do better than this. Stop looking. On a hot day the iced cafe con leche will have you hallucinating.
Vaca Frita on Wednesdays, Boliche on Saturdays, key lime pie always.
Everything is delicious. Some faves are the Perino, avocado salad, fantastic tortilla. Easy going atmosphere and kid friendly to boot.
Love pulled pork? Definitely try the one served here! It’s so good!
Best CUBAN FOOD NYC! The soups are awesome!
“Pilar” was the name of the boat Hemingway owned while in Havana – and it just so happens the boat was built in Brooklyn (c. 1936). Check out the daily specials.
A truly kick ass Cuban sandwich. Also the paella on Fridays is unreal.
Try the pernil- it is crazy good.
The Caldo Gallego is the best soup I've ever had.
Informal and small eatery serving up the best Pressed Cuban Sandwiches and Pernil - also try the Elena Ruth and finish it off with a slice of Key Lime Pie.
Must try: crack grilled cheese sandwich and the potato leek croquettes are the best! Ricardo's soups are the besssssst! Paella on Friday is amazing!!!!
Try the Tamal En Cazuela
Try the Breakfast Sandwich
If you oust me as mayor of Pilar I will treat you to your next dinner there.
Can't beat the quarter chicken, rice, beans, mojo sauce, plantains combo for $6... so much flavor!
Daily specials and they deliver
Wow. This is really good coffee!!
For something hearty, order the Tortilla Espanola with chorizo.
