My favorite bar in New York, hands down. Best place to bring a group or just a few friends; go on a weeknight when it's much less crowded (and you can chat with the bartenders, who are a blast!)

bring a large starbucks coffee for the bartenders. they will love you as much as they love medont be taken in by the silly looks of the drinks, they will knock you right off your 5 ft tall bar stool

A little hole in the wall with a spray-painted sign out front. You're supposed to tell the bartenders what you're in the mood for and they make you a really fun tiki drink - some drinks come on fire!

It's rare to find a tiki bar in Manhattan. Rarer to find one that limits you to one-per-customer of their stronger drinks. Rarest to find one where the drinks really are strong enough to deserve it!

Nice ambience, great waiters and cool vibe. But, too over priced for a tikki bar! Drinks were more fancy than good quality. Worth a visit though. Eatchput for the bad hangover the next morning!

The Richard Boccato & Giuseppe Gonzalez-backed bar is an urban riff on tiki: the drink menu gives dirty classics like the Mai Thai & Zombie a top-shelf makeover & lifts the Scorpion Bowl. Read more

Get a "bartender's choice." Tell them what you're in the mood for (and what you *don't* want), and they'll mix just the right drink to hit the spot. The bartenders here are excellent.

This windowless tiki den comes with a menu of frozen daiquiris, swizzles (get the Kona), and the infamous homemade Scorpion punch. This place is known for its STRONG tropical drinks. Read more

The expert bartenders will create you the perfect drink or just try the Jet Pilot and the Zombie Punch. Have fun people watching while you enjoy your delicious concoction.

Queen's Park Swizzle is a killer, delicious, boozy cocktail. Don't let the name throw you off. Few bars do it at all, much less correctly --- these guys nail it.

While the decor is a little odd and not as traditional as most, the drinks are the real star at PKNY. Try a Missionary's Downfall or a Pearl Diver's Punch.

Great place to come with friends if you don't drink. Go for the Lavaflow — a strawberry banana piña colada! It's deliciousness, served in a hollowed out pineapple.

get the signature Painkiller.. Mild, fruity, tasty.. But with only those few ounces you'd swear they mixed in a half of a crushed percocet or something..

Congratulations, you've found one of Esquire's Best Bars in America. An unlikely mash-up between Polynesian and punk, it's got very large, very strong rum drinks. We recommend the Zombie. Read more

Painkiller, and their painkiller, were first responsible for convincing me that tiki is (profoundly) worth reviving. Always one for spiritous classics, I feared pineapple and coconut. I was wrong.

Cold outside? Try one of the new hot tiki drinks -- hot zombie, hot mai tai, coffee grog, spiked apple cider, or hot buttered rum.

Great drinks in a fairly hidden spot. The Zombies will hit you for six and you'll definitely need painkillers the morning after.

Get the scorpion bowls if you're in a group of four or more friends. The missionary's downfall is a pretty awesome drink also.

Skip it. The concept is good but the execution is way off. Why are drinks $14 in what looks like a dive bar? They're also really weak and all ice.
