Foot passengers walking to the terminal have to keep to the left side and follow the pedestrian crossings. Or else you'll find yourself walking among the trucks!

Took a bus from London to Paris and the experience was perfect. There's wifi on the ferry and you barely feel the boat moving.

Use DFDS or Myferrylink - you can get return crossings midweek for €50. P&O are too expensive!

Stay overnight at the premier inn; no stress on the motorway then when there's a traffic jam

DFDS are cheapest, but look for odd ferry times. 4am is only £19. They also now allow you to board one ferry earlier or later than your scheduled one with no extra cost.

DFDS Multi-Trip is indeed the cheapest way to make the crossing frequently. Or at least it has been for the past two years. They're 'late' in announcing deal/prices for 2013 - usually early/mid Nov!

With DFDS Seaways economy ticket you can't use earlier ferry than booked. You also have to leave the terminal and find some place in the city to wait. So don't rush on the motorway.

If you are working with a laptop, the older coffeeplace (on the right hand side) is better as it has accessible electricity points, In the new one, you depend on the battery.

DFDS multi-trip is cheapest option. Tunnel quicker but way more expensive for anything other than a 2 day return....except for occasional weekends in February.

No food at the ferry port until around 10am when burger king opens so if your early and peckish you will need to grab something on the boat or before you arrive.
