There is an amazing restored waterfall on the Flatbush Avenue side of the Park just off the center of Long Meadow. Go see it!

The nicest expanse of grass in all of NYC that seems to just go on for miles and miles. Come early on the weekend before 9am, and see the ridiculous amount of dogs and their owners playing!
Beautiful park. Grab a book, a ball, a kite, friend, etc. Just get out there and enjoy it!

For some reason the stroller pushers seem to congregate on the west side. If you're suffering from crying baby fatigue, walk east.
Off leash hours 5am-9am and 9pm- 1am. This is an amazing experience. There's nothing quite like it anywhere. Doggie heaven!

Go for the grills and picnic tables on 9th street and West Drive
Feed the ducks at the dog beach.
Come on the weekends in the morning to see lots of dogs. Off-leash ends at 9 AM.

I am never very sure how I end up here, but it is always a nice place to find myself in the park.
Shade (and frisbee) for the dog, sun (and a good book) for me.
Check out the Fallen Oak on Elephant Hill, the oldest tree out of the 30,000 in the entire park (300 years), before heading over to the Band Shell for a free summer Concert performance. Also, stroll

Park time is the right time!
Wonderful dog runs up to 9 am each day. On weekends it's doggie wonderland. Very fun for them to run around and play together. Kids also love watching the dog parade each morning
Plenty of green space for you to have a picnic on a nice summer day. Bring your dog and let it run free without a leash before 9am.
Dog tips: Off leash is only in the meadows, not the whole park. Don't take your dog off leash at an entrance, it's too tempting for them to go the wrong way. Always have collars and tags on your dog.
I love Long Meadow. It's very peaceful. I let my 14 month old daughter run around. She loves it.
Unlike Central Park, at Prospect Park you're still allowed to play catch and throw a ball around. Make the most of it! :)
