I love this izakaya. Just when you thought there was no cool place to eat in this 'hood. Go downstairs, grab a table in the nook or the bar (only two spots I like) and try everything on the menu
Great izakaya. No reservations. Always long waits. Incredibly fun. Order mercilessly and carelessly.
Tucked away in Times Square is this often crowded Japanese spot. You won't find sushi on the menu here but don't fret - the wasabi octopus will leave you wanting more!
Nice little place
Ask the waitress for recommendations on sake and she might bring you a flight. The fried gizzards and pork belly skewers are superb.
Subterranean Times Square hideaway for Japanese pub fare: yakitori to udon to dried skate fin. Fans include chefs Dave Pasternack (Esca), Michael Anthony (Gramercy Tavern) & Joe Ogrodenek (Battersby)
Kimchee yaki udon. Thank me later.
Love this place! Always a wait, but don't be deterred. I recommend: hokke (smoked mackerel), bacon wrapped enoki, and fried squid, but everything good. Cheap draft beer (Kirin and Sapporo) too!
I'll die happy when I've consummed every bloody thing on this shiney-shiney menu. I may also go into cardiac arrest. Think "soul food" but from the Japs. Izakaya, get it!
Try yellowtail collar here. They don't always have it but when they do you won't regret it.
TAKOYAKI, eat it.
Get the yellow tail collar and green tea shochu. If it's on the menu - chicken livers.
A whole on the ground. Look for the Sake Bar sign & make sure you go downstairs. Make sure to sign your name on the list & leave your number so they can call you when the table is ready.
very good food and beer!
Nice little authentic Sake bar for after work. Try the yellowtail collar and the pork belly. They open the doors at 5:30pm (on the dot).
Go for izakaya classics like chicken skewers and takoyaki as well as the extensive sake list.
Egg on egg on egg is the most decadent and tasteful dish.
The Kimchi udon is the bomb also the Tofu in broth mouth watering.
Green tea mochi is amazeballz
Wasabi shu mai! Tingles the brain. Yum! And don't forget nigori!
Ladies, try the hou hou shu sparkling sake! It's bubbly, sweet and delicious!
deliciously awesome food and always open late, even on weekdays!
I'm glad I found this place!
Going to a show at the roseland? Come here first.
grapefruit malt drink delicious!!
There are 3 venues w/ "152" listed as the address, so look 4 the blk awning with "Iroha" on it, enter the restaurant & go downstairs for Sake Bar Hagi. Open L8 & very affordable! Usually a line tho.
Yellowtail Sashimi is a must, as are Wagyu skewers with wasabi
Very hard to find. Hole in the wall place down in the basement. Food was cheap and good. Place smelled like bleach. Bad customer service.
winner winner, chicken liver = winner
Great underground izakaya with wonderful pitcher beer specials. Unfortunately it's small, so a wait on the weekends will be at least an hour.
chicken skin yakitori!!!
Nice with cold and hot sake!!!:-) Japannees carnaval !!
Food was amazing, service friendly. they yummiest Lychee chu-hi.
Uni was.. Ok.. But agedashi, burdock, Takowasa, monkfish liver - EPIC.
Soft shell crab FTW!
Beef tongue. Fried frog leg. Lychee sake. Pork pancake. Zousui.
The closet flavor to real Japanese!
One the best Japanese places I've been to! Always packed
Fried baby sardine salad special is one of the best dishes ever
Hamachi kama (collar)!! And the all meat skewer set. Don't recommend ramen.. too salty and not that great ..
UH-MAY-ZING food, bring a group and share everything on the menu.
Thank all the godz that that they don't celebrate Xmas. The only place to get sake on a cold, midtown winter's night!
Don't go to Times Square for it, but don't leave Times Square without it. Killer wasabi shumai, gyoza, and fried soft shelled shrimp and dec sake menu to wash it down.
La mejor comida japonesa recomendada por el chef anthony bourdain excelente atención, pide la ubicación frente a la barra
