Awesome little hidden place
Not as good as the rave reviews would suggest... all the dishes were mediocre at best. Avoid the dry, charred yakitori. Chawanmushi portion is large but just tastes like salty, soggy rice.
Don't venture too far if you put your name down
Long wait, worth it! Grab a drink at the sports bar next door while you wait. Wasabi shumai, dried skate, meat skewers and $12 pitchers!
Uni sashimi, nama beeru, buta kimchee
Waited for more than an hour on Tuesday night. However the dishes are just so so.
Affordable Japanese snack-ish foods. Wide range of menus to choose from
We had the yakitori. It was great.
Great place for ramen and friendship! #12dollarpitcherstoo
Miso Katsu Don is tasty and the portion size is just about perfect.
So. Very. Bright.
Authentic izakaya experience. A very unique place in an otherwise lame part of town. You'll definitely try something new here. Octopus balls, grilled squid, skewered meats, etc
Great atmosphere. Okonomiyake is solid.
Excellent sake list. Tons of great authentic izakaya choices as well.
Great late night food. Get Uni!
Awesome spot in the Times Square area where you can munch on small plates & down that sake wee into the early morning.
If you have the money to, just order everything on the menu. No ragrats
Sashimi salad with choice of fish and wasabi soy dressing $12, burdock root $4
A gem in the middle of time square and very reasonably priced. Get here before 6 pm to avoid lines. Very extensive menu.
Absolutely fantastic place, great sake selection, skewers are great, as are soft shell shrimp, tongue and pork belly
So far, my favorite Izakaya outside of Tokyo. Tasty bites, cold beer and close quarters! Perfection.
4 of us spent $200 and Tried tons of stuff, Tofu Steak, a salad made of daikon & roe, baked eggplant are the best! Others are good, like smelt,
I love the grilled smelt. I had monkfish liver for the first time and it was incredible.
The monkfish liver was just amazing
super cool and unique. if you didn't know about it, you'd never find it.
Keep your eyes open! It was a bit of a challenge trying to find this place but, it was worth it. The Crispy Chicken with Miso Sauce Over Rice was really good and the prices were very reasonable.
Portions on sautees/noodles/rice are bigger than you'd imagine from an izakaya. Yakitori on point
Cool izakaya with good sake list. Super crowded and cramped though.
Among the best izakaya in the city.
I love to get a combination of things and share with whoever I'm dining with, so we can get a taste of everything. The chicken hearts, the salmon sashimi, and the fried rice are the best things to try
Cool yakatori spot near Times/Theater area
Cool yakatori spot
Must orders: Wasabi shumai, fried oysters, squid teriyaki, A Set, takoyaki, softshell tempura, diced steak, and arabiki sausage. Include bottle of sake and pitcher of Sapporo.
A hidden gem in Time Square. The place is literally in a basement. A wide selection of sake and the food is good too. I recommend the mentai pasta and the assortment of yakitori skewers!
Great Japanese fried squid at 2 am
Long wait. Great food. Mentai pasta was the winner.
Black sesame ice cream, chazuke, saba!
Go to late night place when near time square.
amazing street food menu selection, they have okonomiyaki! it wasnt quite authentic but still good.
Perfect for late night eats around Times Square
The pork belly and seafood okonomiyaki!!
The best value Japanese food in this part of town. And really great. What you order won't matter. Just your preference. Japanese eat "main" dishes first and end meal with carb/soup though!
Great skewers and sake selection.
A quality, perpetually busy izakaya in Midtown West, Sake Bar Hagi has a thorough array of sake and spirits, and serves up affordable, tasty plates, such as the yakitori and okonomiyaki.
Downstairs, difficult to find hideaway from midtown crowds. Cheap drinks and food. Beat the dinner line that forms round 6pm.
Despite the fact that mid dinner we had a roach crawl across our table the food was really good. Don't expect quality service at all. It's a cheap, divey, touristy Japanese place.
Super authentic japanese comfort food 😋 The fried oysters, yellowtail collar and eggplant dengaku are unreal.
