Designed by internationally-acclaimed architect Moshe Safdie, the Main Library's contains 240,000 square feet of meeting space, reading galleries and more.
Great architectural moment and perfect if distant people-chatter is conducive to your studying. That said—it's a little homeless-heavy.
Check out the library store for some top notch stationary like Leuchterm 1917 note books, fridge magnets, and games.
Rarest of books
What a beautifully constructed library. And they offer day passes for printing, copying, scanning, faxing and computer use at a nominal fee. CASH ONLY!!!
Why don't you have a library card? Did you know, that in addition to books, you may also checkout movies, music and art? They even have a wide selection to download.
Beautiful building but I found the library staff at the information counter rude and unhelpful. In addition if you live outside of salt Lake County the fee for a library card is $80
Super cool library. However, it has literally the creepiest, most disgusting bathrooms I've ever encountered in my life. I've been to a rest stop in Wyoming with cleaner bathrooms.
Always a great time here
The new "lucky 7" feature is frickin fantastic! You can check out the latest best sellers for a week. No more waiting months for a hold!
Hide in the attic, in the basement.
Awesome library. Hobos have seriously infested this place though. Bathrooms, computers, and I think one lives in the phone booth.
Nice place. If you don't mind B.O. And cigarette smoke
Grab a coffee from first floor and head to to the rooftop to read. If you have the kids with you, enjoy the Childrens library. Great people watching, and yes some are homeless.
Dollar books- carts and carts of them.
Party on the roof

The art downstairs with poetry is beautiful
So many old creepy men.
The views from the rooftop are the best in the city. Bring a camera.
My favorite place to study!
Architectural design by renown Moshe Safdie
I love this place. The librarians are so friendly and helpful.
This place is huge!
Architecture rocks. Upper floors are rad. Grab a coffee and enjoy at least an hour here.
Is there anything better than a sexy geek?! I say "No!" If you agree then, the SLCPL is the best place to go and find one. On any given day, you're going to see some eye candy. Best Days: Sat & Sun
Here's my tip: the fourth floor balcony (It's across from the library proper, you go to the fourth floor and cross a sky bridge, but it's inside the building) is a great place to read. It's very quiet
Take the elevator to the 5th floor and enjoy the spectacular view from the rooftop garden
There's a garden on the top. Check it out.
Also known as Salt Lake City Gathering of the Juggalos
Another fabulous design by Moshe Safdie who also designed the Jepson Center in Savannah
Come take a look at this amazing building. Visit the roof garden if it's open.
The more you read, the tastier your brain becomes.
Salt Lake Roasting Company Coffee on 1st floor by magazines....YUM!
Childrens library is amazing! Little furniture and a fun little reading nook.
You dont need to have a library card if all you want to do is forget your meds and shout at random passersby while reeking of urine and BO.
Anne Frank display is great!
One of the best libraries in the states. Interesting architecture, plenty of great spots to read, work, and converse.
Look out for the Juggalos that are always hanging out front being getto.
Stay off of the 2nd level. That is the young adult section and it is a little weird.
Definitely one of my favorite buildings in the city. A must-see!
Don't miss the rooftop garden- great views of the mountains, the City and County Building, and a geocache!
