The 445,000 sqft expansion of Terminal 2 will accommodate 10 new gates and expanded concession space. This new area will feature a 300-foot-long, 2.5-story, glass-enclosed hall called Sunset Cove. Read more

Departures: sit on the right for views of the bay and beaches after flying over Liberty Station. Arrivals: sit on the left for views of Coronado bridge, Petco Park, and the downtown skyline.

Skip the terminal waiting nonsense (Terminal 1, at least) and enjoy the (relative) peace of the seating just past security screening but before the escalators. Plus, outlets galore (okay, like two)!

Be aware that rental cars have been moved to a different place and is actually further away from the airport. So don't have any appointments, if you are on a business trip, that is too time critical.

Such a big airport. So clean and the attention to the client is good too. I like to see all the people that take a flight here, such diversity from all around the world.

The Certified LEED® Gold Green Build Terminal 2 at San Diego’s Lindbergh Field is both atypical and progressive with a glass curtain wall that provides a stunning view of the runway and of the city.

Try the grilled Asian chicken sandwich at the restaurant/bar Stone brewing co. The security guard recommended it as the best sandwich in the airport and it really was astonishingly good. Thumbs up

When in San Diego, Mission Beach is a great place to experience the famed Californian beaches! Get a quick tan while you soak up the sun and relax with a pleasant walk along the beach.

All LAX-bound flights leave from the Commuter Terminal (not Terminal 1 or 2). Free shuttle that loops around in case you missed that little detail, like me... It's bright red. Can't miss it.

Gotta love it - traveling 5 weeks out of 6! See it Coming & going! Could use more seating in the Southwest terminal (#1), but I still like Southwest's attitude & appreciation for their customers!

Following a complete renovation, this airport terminal is the most modern, tech-filled, and efficient I've been to in a very long time! The designers should be hired to renovate Newark airport!

You don't need to get there early if your at terminal 1, the eats and drinks are lame until they finish the upgrades in 2015 but if you're at T2 you need time for Stone Brewery!

They halved the size of the Pacific Highway lot so now it's always full and they have an excuse to send you to the new Harbor Drive lot, which will cost you the princely sum of $18/day.

Welcome to San Deigo! Although this airport is ranked as one of the most dangerous for pilots, I've never had or heard about a problem. The recent expansion has made this a very nice airport. Enjoy!

Fun Fact: The San Diego Airport is one of the hardest airports to land in, due to it's unique location right outside the Downtown city center.

Bring your own food. Remember - pre-make your sandwiches! Peanut butter jars, mustard, mayo and yogurt are subject to the liquids & gels policy and security will confiscate & dispose of these foods

Check your carry-on bag for free at the gate. Airlines like Alaska and Virgin America also let you board sooner if you only need the space underneath the seat in front of you for your personal items.

The US Air crew that's here (gate 34, flight 16) today is srsly unorganized & inefficient. The only competent & helpful employees from US Air work at the bagcheck on the curb (Bernardo specifically).

In terminal 2, security is quickest in the am. Terminal 1 can often be the opposite. Staff are often very friendly unless you're rude to them. Lots of Starbucks and they're building another one in T2.

Be sure to check your bag if it's even remotely over carry-on size. I hadn't had to check a certain bag anywhere in the world until here and the lady was nasty and made me wait in more lines. Not cool

If you are stuck for the day there are two sky clubs, Delta and American. Both are $50 a day but go with Delta. Longer hours, friendly service, and 50% if you have certain Amex Cards.

The new terminal 2 is nice but be warned as it's still under construction: No United Club yet. Limited vendors. Not a lot of power outlets and wifi seems slow. But should be nice when it's done...

Oh TSA ... here's a tip for you. Your security procedures are horribly inefficient at every airport that you use random scan selection. Let us choose which lane to go through ourselves and less grope.

T2 is going through a remodel. They mapped out the worst ways to do a remodel and pushed 'GO'. Security is long, Starbucks line is literally 30 people long. one food vendor for 27 gates.

Now I got it! The reason their Wi-Fi is free is that by the time you're through security, you don't have no time for Internet! Can't use it anyway! Unless you finally missed your flight!

This facility is outdated, but at least I found electrical outlets near some seats at Gate 24. A few years ago, I sat on the floor with other travelers around the only outlet for 3 gates.

Terminal 2 is exquisite and Terminal 1 is being remodeled with nice amenities. The free WiFi is below average though: difficult to log-in, slow speeds, and boots you after 30 min.

Food options in the terminal are pretty sparse. Eat before you get to the airport! Also while terminal 2 is under construction the security lines can get pretty long so get here early.

Why is this city so delusional about the idea of a bigger airport? It's one thing to wait forever to go through security but something completely different when you don't have room for the line.

The rental car shuttle waiting areas are a mess. No signs to alert which part of curb a particular company will park. So even if you were waiting the longest you may not get a place on shuttle #1.

Some airlines are more likely to bump passengers from flights than others. You have the best shot at staying on the plane with JetBlue, Hawaiian and Delta. American Eagle has the highest bump rate.

In terminal 1, get food at The Counter, but drink at Bankers Hill Bar. Although Bankers Hill restaurant is amazing, the airport version is not so great when it comes to food.

If Terminal 1 parking is full, enter the lot anyway, drive to the pay station at the bottom of the escalator, and offer to drive an arriving traveller to their car. Like a boss.

When flying internationally out of SAN it is best to arrive at least three hours prior to scheduled departure time due to the lack of knowledge of some station agents on passport protocol

Take your assigned seat as quickly as possible and step out of the aisle to stow your bag. If you are flying Southwest, just pick any seat and sit down, it's not that difficult.

For Terminal 2, use the security line near Virgin America. The far one near United is usually way too long and filled with international travelers. Both lines go to all gates in Terminal 2.

If you are flying out of gates 1 or 2, it's a separate security check (even if you're just connecting). Very limited food selection in gate areas. Needs a serious update to facilities.

Do not get coffee for anywhere but Starbucks. Not a Starbucks fan, but I ordered coffee from one of the "restaurants" took a sip, paid for it & left it on the table. It was undrinkable.

If you are terminal 2 for a morning flight arrive early. Security line is a disorganized mess. Terminal 1 more orderly. Either way both terminals get backed up and 30 minute security lines are common.
