The concrete stairs have 189 steps total and the wooden ones have 169 steps total.

Words can't describe. Super steep stairs built into the side of a mountain. Hurts so good!
Great free workout, gets super crowded and smells bad when its hot.
I find that if I bring along a nice dry white wine, these stairs are much more enjoyable!

Do 3 steps at a time on your last set!
Go down concrete steps, jog across to the wooden steps. Semi jog wooden steps then walk across to the concrete steps. This equates to a lil over 2 miles and great for your glutes!!
Great place to get some outdoor exercise and people watch. But note that gets routinely crowded on weekends and weekday evenings.
Kick ass, no mercy stairs. But, often overcrowded. And very often with the scantily clad who want to be seen. I use the adjacent streets to make a loop. 7th street has a nice hill to run.

Do as many sets as you can, until your legs feel like they're on fire and you can't take another step. Then do 2 more sets.

Middle lane is for passing. Upward traffic has the right of way. 3 min pace up and down is where its at!!!

Go for a light jog in around the neighborhood for a warm-up, then do the stairs.
I love the complaints for the stairs on the tips section. "Middle is for passing," " don't bring an iPod," "no cell phone conversations..." You guys crack me up!
Don't fall down the stairs, TOTALLY not fun.
If you need to a smoke break (!!!) please do it in your car or away from everyone, not at the top of the stairs!
I'm sure you're very important but your cell phone conversation can wait until you're off the stairs.

Climb this: go up the concrete and metals ones, then jog to the wood ones to go down (easier on your joints)
Go in the mornings to avoid a cattle like clusterf*ck
