Enjoy some delicious German food and wash it down with a beer!
I'm a potato salad snob, amd theirs is among the best I've ever eaten. That's saying something because I've eaten a lot of potato salad all over, from Germany to Calif.
Try the pretzel and spot it on Foodspotting!
Ignore the crazy lady upstairs. If you rent upstairs from a restaurant you cannot claim to be surprised by there being a restaurant downstairs.
badass charcuterie plate and no-mayo potato salad. screw Flour + Water down the street, you can actually get a place to sit, eat and drink some german brews without too much waiting
do not deny yourself the chocolate pudding that comes covered in vanilla sauce.
Must have pretzels
Loved the bratwurst plate and the drink that's half Orangina half Pils.
order one of the sausage dinners. it comes with the best potato salad I've ever had. the spatzle is good too.
not just a restaurant- they have a great selection of german mustards and snacks
thank you, germany, for giving us sauerkraut and sausages
The apple strudel + vanilla custard is to die for.
i would be perfectly happy with the cured meat plate, a salted pretzel roll, and a dunkel weisen.
Best potato salad ever. Order 1 to eat and 1 to go.
Get the litter of beer and the curry quest. Can't go wrong with that combination :-)
Best German food I've ever eaten in the U.S. Grilled sausages are delicious, especially the currywürst. Great atmosphere and bier selection.
Egg on schnitzel? That's gourmet.
They also sell German groceries like Spaetzle, Sauerkraut, Curry Kerchup, Rote Grutze and more.
I prefer Schmidt's to Suppenkuche. No long waits, no preppies, GREAT beer. The schnitzel RULES.
why are there so many children (0-2) here!?
Try the Giant Pretzel - Best thing here!! (via @Foodspotting)
Marzenbier bratwurst + marzenbier beer
Damn good German food. Excellent beer selection. Not crowded.
Get the Underberg digestif after your meal!
The brat o'course ! The potatoe salad that goes with it is nice as well.
The Käsespätzle and the Rotkraut (red cabbage) are truly amazing.
The mashed potatoes are made from potatoes that the chef smokes in house. they taste like bacon and it changed my life. also the German beer selection is excellent
Yes yes yes on the pea pancakes (below) and pretzel roll.
Apps, entrees, and desserts are big enough to share. They take cards now.
Wild boar sausage and get the pretzel
Excellent French Toast (giggle) -- not too sweet!
David's special and a zwickel are a knockout pair. Don't forget to ask for the mustards.
The schnitzel was "meh"
Get the pretzel. Best pretzel in SF - melts in your mouth.
Get a boar sausage, or the amazing spatzle with bacon, but do not miss the pretzel rolls—get two of them. Afterwards, mosey over to Shotwell's down the street for one more beer.
Switch out or order a side of these brussels sprouts! They are crisp, fresh and provide that crunch to complete your meal. Prost, I've paired mine with a tasty Radeberger.
Best pretzel I've ever had. I would come back for the pretzel alone.
Awesome german restaurant!
Chocolate pudding with vanilla sauce! Delish!!
Exceptional and cozy spot for very good German beer. Try my Holy Trinity: kölsch, sausage, and their ridiculously good potato salad!
Eat at Schmidt's, Snore like a House Frau. LOVE the duck sausage.
Try their brunch, it's awesome!
The weekend brunch is a good try, but a little weak. Come back at dinner time.
Try the Apple Strudel (via @Foodspotting)
leberkase is a must with beer
Es gibt megaviele verschiedene deutsche Biersorten und eine ziemlich lange, sehr deftige Speisekarte (übrigens voller Rechtschreibfehler). Das Interieur kalifornisch-modern, die Bedienung freundlich.
