An affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution, the History Center is the largest history museum in Pennsylvania. The museum features six floors of long-term and changing exhibition space, including the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, a dynamic museum-within-a-museum, and the Library & Archives.

Cool museum but it has no flow to it.
The cafe has surprisingly great food. Red pepper Gouda soup (AMAZING) every Friday, wraps and paninis are delicious. Try the energy stir smoothie on your way out. Service is very friendly as well.
Former ice storage building re-purposed as a museum of Western PA artifacts. Houses a Sports Museum. Displays commemorate Fred Rodgers,Jonas Salk, Westinghouse, Pgh Steelers, George Romero, archives.

Give yourself at least an hour per floor and wear comfortable shoes. Everybody should visit here at least once but it's worth buying the membership!
Plan plenty of time. And try a chocolate covered pickle on the way out.
Great place to take kids. A lot of interactive exhibits. The sports museum is also a must see for the Pittsburgh sports fans!

Make sure to check out the Stars and Stripes exhibit. Innovators on the 2nd floor is pretty amazing too.

Great exhibit on history of Pittsburgh, including video on "Pittsburghese", explaining some of my dad's weird language like "warsh the car" or "redd up your room"!
Mr. Rogers' shoes & sweater are on the 2nd floor!
Simply amazing. Im a war history kinda person and this place had alot of it. Plus u get to see Pgh as it was back in the day and how it helped pioneer America towards what it is today
Grab a sandwich at the deli. They're great!
