The soup dumplings are always a safe bet. If you aren't allergic to seafood, the crabmeat pork dumplings are to die for. Any of the rice cake dishes are also extremely delicious and satisfying.
Xiao long bao
Soup dumplings heaven!!
Tiny pork buns, scallion pancakes, veggie fried rice
The speed at which you're served dumplings is amazing, especially if you don't mind sharing a table with strangers. The pork and crab dumplings are worth the trip.
Don't bother with anything except the steamed pork tiny buns (not because everything else is bad, but because the soup dumplings are just, that, good).
These guys don't know how to do dumpling dough...
Bang for your buck soup dumplings
Get soup dumplings for sure. The rice cake dishes are interesting. The spicy cabbage salad is also worth getting if you're looking to add a more refreshing component to your meal.
Soup dumplings have the kind of chewy skin that taste homemade. Delicious!
This place is NOT the same as it used to be. As it became annoyingly touristy and full of non-asians, even their taste and portions changed in worse way. I miss the good ole Shanghai Cafe days.
A no-brainer: get the xlb (crabmeat soup dumplings) + one of their iced teas or fresh watermelon juices!
Saving the best of all to celebrate National Dumpling Day 9/26/15: xiao lung bao (crabmeat soup dumplings)!
Order the cold noodles, thank me later. Oh, and get the broccoli too. Deeeeelish.
F*uck this place. Shit service and a minimum per person for cash only.
after we paid and left the tips the administrator girl has almost forced us to leave some extra tips for the waiter. Don't go there unless you like do charity;)
If you're feeling adventurous and want a legit chinatown restaurant experience, try this out and get the Soup Dumpings!
Soup dumplings forever.
Soup dumplings here are the best
Cash only, as are many places in Chinatown.
Pan fried pork dumplings were awesome! The lo mein is really good too
Smells interesting...service is wicked fast, to the point of pushiness. Don't have pea shoots OR Chinese broccoli?? Aren't you a Chinese restaurant?
Soup dumplings are not even close to Joes, not even close. Other dumplings and scallion pancake are really nice tho.
Great alternative to Joe's Shanghai if you're looking for soup dumplings. I can't detect a difference between the two except the wait is much shorter here!
Best soup dumplings in Chinatown!
Soup dumplings were beyond my expectations. The shanghai pan fried noodles were very good too!
Dim sum and general tsao is very good
Unbeatable for the price. Get some earplugs though, the lady cashier keeps yelling all over the place which is reeaaally annoying!
Remarkably super delicious food. Just don't look at the floors or inspect the battered menus too carefully. Those are not indicators of quality... Only flavor. I'm coming back often.
If there's one thing you get here, get the pork with rice cakes. Unbelievable.
What's good here? The pork soup dumplings are what's good! They're small, but come as a set of 8. Get two lots, stuff your face and walk out with barely a $10 check.
Good dim sum
Xlb, $5 a basket. Can't ask for more.
Soup dumplings are really cheap and great. Awful service, but for a $4.95 meal, I'm not expecting much!
Avid goer to Shanghai Cafe, as they do have the best soup dumplings in the city and the pan fried noodles are just awesome. Won't be going back after tonight though. Saw a ROACH on the wall.
Cheap and nice chinese food
Hands down, the best soup dumplings I've had. Don't expect great service though.
Soup dumplings 🍲
Pork soup dumplings, pork fried rice & General Tso's chicken are all amazing. Get an extra order of dumplings, trust me. You won't regret it. Cash only!
Just shut up and soup dump yourself. Don't waste time with the fried tiny buns. Just steamed soup. That's it.
Horrible service and they yelled at my friends and I for tipping off the pre-tax bill. Food was good but you can easily find better elsewhere in the neighborhood.
Soup dumplings here are great. Order from the "house special" section if you want to order meat dishes (applicable to almost all Chinese places in the U.S.)
Best soup dumplings. Worst service.
Beef rice cakes and honeydew bubble tea
If you want to experience bugs on the wall, i would recommend this place.
The most authentic Shanghaiese food in New York. The soup buns and fried noodles are always delicious. Also Zongzi粽子 and pan fried rice cake 炒年糕
Order the beef pan fried noodles & the pork, mustard green & salted egg soup!
Soup dumplings, thick lo mein noodles and inexpensive. That's all you need for a perfect Chinatown meal!!
Seafood soup dumplings FTW
Squeeze all your friends into a booth and spilt tray after tray of soup dumplings. It can be a bit noisy and feel a bit rushed but that does not mean you should skip it.
