Cool, divey atmosphere and great outdoor seating. I hope the new apts going up nearby don't ruin this spot.
Once upon a time Shangri-La was even more magical and complete with its own East Side King food truck in the backyard. Alas, how the times have changed.
Went here last night to get a drink before we headed out to another place... THE BARTENDER SUCKED!! We ended up just walking out..
Check out the Capitol building, if you are lucky you may run into Rick Perry's Optometrist!
Great backyard area. Sadly no longer has a food truck.
Get a Tom Collins
the doorman really was an asshole. if you want friendly, you should probably go somewhere else.
WiFi password : shangri-la
Enjoyed it, small venue with good drinks
A great place to do coke or trade mix-tapes with some huge piece of shit.
The old-school chemical photo booth will be the best five dollars you've ever spent. Just do it.
$10 for 2 really well made long islands? I'm down
Definitely go upstairs and outside! It's an awesome atmosphere!
Go to the Eastside kings truck out back!!
Ton of hipsters lol!!! Everyone was pretty cool. Love the loud music on the jukebox! Me and friends stuck out like a soar thumb. Pool tables, sick patio, and old arcade games!! I'd go back for sure!
Get the chicken skin bun at East Side Kings in the back.
How can you not love a place with Paul Qui food in the back where this happens?
The kickass, always-packed patio here can keep us happily captive all evening. Even if you don’t feel like drinking, it’s worth the trip just for a steamed bun from food trailer East Side King.
No I will not fall for a bartender. She knew who I was and didn't hesitate to give me a big hug, haven't been here since kickball time, and she have me her number...it's going to be a good year..
The doorman was reading Game of Thrones. I can appreciate that.
Unfriendly hotties. #meangirls
You know... they have extended happy hour! It goes all the way until 9pm and don't forget to go to East Side King in the back!
Perhaps it is the giant patio, the ’90s arcade games or the big selection of bottled beers and drinks, or that Shangri-La is one of the first bars you see on East Sixth keeps locals coming back.
Only place in Austin (afaik) with mint fernet! Get some shots!
Sock hops! Need we say more?
Best outdoor area around. Tons of tables under a canopy of trees…and they've got Prince on the juke box!
Pay your tab using Tabbedout!
Backyard Shangri-la like woah! Come early to snag a table tho...
Hey everyone! Try the beer. It's so good.
The coolest bartenders around. I love 'em all 'cept fr Joe and his mustache. I mean, ESPECIALLY Joe and his mustache.
The Second Sunday Sock Hop is not be missed. Great music and good times.
Bill Murray once bartended here during SXSW. There, now you can act unimpressed when someone inevitably tries to tell you the story.
Best East Side Bar.
Pbr a flowing
seen bill murray and that chick from the OC up in here..so whatev
2 dolla tuesdays, all night happy hour!
giant patio, super nice bartenders, pup friendly and free wi-fi. you pretty much can't ask for more...
If you're on east 6th you need to stop here. Nicest staff all around and sickest jukebox selection.
Another hidden gem in east Austin. Shangri-La has a large back area to smoke and visit the outside bar aswell as a laidback inside with loud music and full size pool tables. Lounge around and be a l
Exceptional bar staff! Especially Joe and Sam. Tip them well!
$2 Tuesdays, domestics & well drinks.
All but 2 of the arcade games were out of service. The change machine was out of service as well. While I appreciate that it's quieter than the main 6th street line-up, if you're looking for a good ga
Avoid the hipster door girl. The femme Nazi obviously spends too much time in the tattoo parlor and not enough time studying the valid forms of identification in the State of Texas.
Old school arcade games in a bar...buy Mrs. Pacman a drink.
Full of hipsters. If that's your thing
