Pro tip: If you're heading towards DC and don't want to spend long waits in the cold, take a train the other way to Forest Glen and wait indoors.

Oh the metro, there's always work being done but it's still the best transport there is! Will be much better once transport center is finally complete next door.

The transit center/bus parking structure is a badly-constructed boondoggle.

Be prepared for delays with all of the interminable track work throughout the system.

The Red line must've been built over an American Indian burial ground... It's always broken, slow, or delayed. Don't be surprised to wait 17 mins for a train here. On a weekday.

This is an outdoor platform that can get really windy and cold during the winter months. Use an app on your phone to time it so you can stay warm.

Can't wait until they finish the new garage! Come here to catch alot of buses from their origin to get a seat, even though the walk I most of the bus stops can be confusing and a hassle.

This station opened on February 6, 1978. Until the Forest Glen station was opened on September 22, 1990, this was the Red Line eastern terminal station. The Grosvenor-Strathmore train has less riders.

Lots of good local eateries within blocks. Crisfield, Vicino, Jackie's, Mi Rancho, Babe's Sports Bar and Grille (they have a beach!)

Great food to the northeast (more chains) & east (more local). Bus Transit Center should be done late 2011 / early 2012; in the meantime buses are on Wayne.

If you're traveling into DC, note that every second train starts here. So if the train that just arrived is full, wait a couple of minutes and the next one will be empty.

Careful with the smarttrip cards and fare machines- ppl will tap theirs and walk away so you put your money in and it goes on their card.. Not yours. I always hit cancel transaction before I start..
