Smith & Mills is one of my favorite places in the city. Better to go earlier in the evening (or on a weekend or on an off-night). Otherwise, the tiny spot is packed+loses charm
If you love ginger, order up their Dark & Stormy and make-out with your glass.
check out the Tim Burton-esque bathroom
be sure to check out the bathroom while you're here, it's incredible.
Perfect for a quiet Friday evening post-work drink, but then stay for dinner.
Tiny but cute. Must use the bathroom/former elevator. Awesome factoid: the kitchen is made of two hotplates behind the bar and food looks impressive!
the burger rocks. you can smell the quality of the meat whenever they put one on, and it delivers. get it.
4 things to know: 1) order a Dark & Stormy 2) look around, conduits and other underground pieces are part of the charm 3) bathroom is an old elevator 4) go early or late. Peak times = bad experience
Check out the bathroom, made out of a turn-of-the-century elevator with a flip-down sink from a Depression-era railway car.
A rustic-chic gem of cocktail bar not much larger than a jewel box. Order a Negroni, and don’t be surprised if Robert DeNiro or Bradley Cooper wander in off for a night cap (001 212 226 2515).
Super cute little spot on the west side, interior design is great, but not a lot of tables - a must 'check in'
Get a dark and stormy
Tiny little hole in the Tribeca wall, with flashbulbs dancing outside with someone mega-famous walking by. Good manhattan, too.
Tiniest mightiest kitchen alive. Get the lobster poached eggs with avocado toast.
Sit on the single chair to the right of the bar and feel AC on a hot day like you've never felt it before!
Restaurateur Matt Abramcyk’s cubbyhole hideout in a former seafarer’s inn serves retro cocktails and comfort food (meatballs; house-pickled vegetables).
Another neighborhood gem and great date spot
The sweet corn is amazing
Perfect cheeseburger, cooked medium rare on toasted brioche. Washed Out on the stereo only seals the deal.
Knocked back a gingery dark and stormy and commented on the bartenders pristine mustache.
Plow through their delicious cocktails so you have an excuse to visit the bathroom.
I would come here just for the burrata. It's that good. The cocktails are great, too.
Lunch lobster poached eggs are divine.
Great date spot. Good music and excellent dark and stormy.
Shhhhhh don't tell no body
Whether you're on a first date or celebrating your anniversary, this cocktail bar is perfect for an intimate, romantic evening.
Best Dark and Stormy in the world. Hands down
Kale & White Bean dish is amazing and the Burger is great. Perfect little space. Must see the bathroom!
Order a dark and stormy - they make it better than most. And if you're eating, try the the schnitzle and the salmon tar tar. Also cannot go wrong with a burger....
Another one of my neighborhood favorites. Cozy and warm atmosphere, top notch cocktails. Have yet to try the food but they have a full menu!
One day I will own a garage that I will eventually turn into a bar.
Bar staff is good people, the burger is wonderful!
Yes, the best dark'n'stormy around. In summer, grab a table outside and order your food as soon as you sit down, since it takes a while (one bunsen burner). Be sure to use the bathroom, it's swag.
Order a drink and then go to the bathroom. It looks like a time machine.
Get the burger with Russian dressing. Nice to see a place offer Russian Dressing!
Very cool bar in Tribeca. Good cocktails, great atmosphere.
“Share some Hungarian Meatballs and a charcuterie plate with the work crew at the bar while shop talking over a round of Old Speckled Hens.” More at http://www.partyearth.com/venues/smith-mills.
Dark & Stormy=fave drink ever. Must have the mussels & the chocolate tart!!!
If you go to the restroom, slide the door open. And washing your hands is an experience.
Make sure you use that bathroom. It's awesome
Bring cash and be prepared to smell like food when you leave. Still, a worthwhile speakeasy for a weeknight drink.
i would not advise going here with a hungry belly unless you're planning on eating because the food always smells UNBELIEVABLE.
cauliflower salad is surprisingly good
the mac n cheese ain't so bad either!
oysters are always fresh.
Make sure you see the bathroom: an incredible old iron elevator!
Max occupancy is 35...snagging a seat can be hard, and you have to order food if you sit at a table. Cool ambiance though with classic cocktails and some fun twists!
