Smithsonian National Zoological Park is a part of the Smithsonian Institution, the world's largest museum and research complex. The words National Zoo represent a large, complex, and diverse organization with a multifaceted mission: demonstrating leadership in animal care, scie...
The Andean Bears have cubs!
One of the best zoos in the US. Free admission, very photogenic, and a lot to see! A fun activity on any day
Great (free) zoo, amazing animals and a good play for a run.
Start from the top side where the metro goes to and work your way down. Down at the hill you can catch a bus to Columbia heights
Someone else said it had free parking, but it doesn't! Parking is $22 for the day, but admission to the zoo is free.
The zoo is beautiful, it's getting colder so they're putting the animals away early.
It is free
Great zoo, but go when the weather is not too hot or cold. You don't see as many animals out during extreme temperatures.
Set up not very user friendly. Path is curvy line with a bunch of dead ends coming off of it. Have to walk all the way back up the hill to get to exit. Pandas are cute & a lot of food choices.
Free admission. Just take the Metro and walk around. Nice in the evening, but most of the animals are resting by then.
To make the misters work, push the button ALL the way in. Harder than you think you need to.
There's all of two parking spots so if you plan on driving then maybe plan on not going to the zoo.
Amazing zoo with all the animals and birds which is very well maintained and you need a while day to see everything :)
All places inside the zoo are very informative
Parking is 22.00, maps/guides are 5.00. Probably cheaper to metro in and print out a map from the website!
Free admission and giant pandas!
Check out the pandas. And the elephants.
The pandas are the most popular. Probably the most active lions and tigers I have seen in any zoo.
Free admission, but kind of disappointing. Not a lot of good animals, more stores.
Beautiful place! Love how the habitats are build to bring the best comfort to animals
The biggest zoo I've ever been to. Definitely need a full day to view the whole thing.
Nice zoo! Get your own food with you because it food sucks there
Very roomy and lots of turtles! The day was too hot, so many animals were inside.
Not many food options once you get inside and there is lots of ground to cover. Pack a lunch (or pick one up) and find one of the many shady spits to enjoy it mid-visit.
Giant Zoo, easy to get lost without GPS, nothing beats free. even after it closes you can get in to some of the exhibits still. reptile exhibit smells like shit and elephant house is awesome
Great zoo! It's a long ass walk though so wear comfortable shoes
Only got to see the baby giant pandas, such a shame of the adult ones not being there... will definitely come back to snap a pic of them.
Very good option to visit with the kids
A fun and free activity, perfect for a date. A great zoo with lots of animals, but set up so there's lots of walking to see everything
Pandas are the highlight, but the ape house, the cheetahs, ate also pretty cool. Be prepared for walking as the zoo is located on a hill. Best to try to park at the bottom of the hill.
I guess it's better for the animals but the enclosures make it difficult to spot many of the animals
Panda having its lunch!!!
This zoo is great! And it's free! They have 2 giant pandas on display, plus lots of other great exhibits.
Best Zoo I've been to till date! Feel bad for some animals though! They are alone in the exhibit!
The zoo is awesome! There are indoor and outdoor exhibits. The indoor ones close at 4:30 in the winter. Admission free, and we paid 22 dollars for parking. We made it through the zoo in about 4 hours.
Zoo lights are free from Thanksgiving until new years.
Buildings close at 4:30 during the winter
Went for Zoo Lights and it was really cute but just way too crowded and messy. Also most of the animals are sleeping so you can't see anything
Hellbender on the loose!
The zoo is so huge and awesome! Lots of animals and exhibits. Make sure u come without a car though, parking os 35$+ 🐺🐼🐒🐯
Great place! A lot of (interesting) animals, so you can easily spend couple of hours here.
Zoo lights. We'll worth the trip. Become a Fonz member and park for free. All year!
The O-Line is really cool.
Excellent value in a zoo, great interactive exhibits.
A national treasure! Great way to spend the day in DC -- pandas, lions, sea lions and more.
It's free! Not very easy to know where the animals are but great environment!
Check out the Pandas🐼
