    Smitty's is steeped in atmosphere, from the lone cover to the blazing fires to the checkered past. Really fun barbecue stop. Pork ribs were my favorite.

    This is simply some of the best BBQ in the nation! BBQ done right... Order by the pound straight off the pit... Served on butcher paper... Cash only... No forks... Family style seating... Enough said!

    Food not worth the trip. The folks great. Where you get the food right next to the wood burning grill/smoker is cool. The prices great. CASH only, but they have an ATM.

    I have never had a piece of pork cooked more perfectl. Great treatment and conversation with the pit boss. This place is the real deal. Sorry if a few of you can't diggit. Go back to California.

    Fyi: cold ring = uncooked sausage (good for cook@home). Shoulder is lean brisket (less fat) Brisket is fatty. Either, or, you cant go wrong!

    OMG. The best brisket and sausage ever! BBQ sauce by request only, but you won't need it. No plates. Meat served on butcher paper and napkins pulled from a hanging bathroom paper towel dispenser.

    Wow fantastic BBQ. The jalapeño sausage was moist and just the right spice. The brisket fatty was great but the burned ends were cooked perfect. Will be back.

    Amazing. Get ribs, brisket (both fat and lean), a pork chop and the prime rib if it's there. Prime rib on wknds only, but they sell out fast.

    Don't be fooled by the looks of the place. The brisket here is the best I've ever had! Definitely worth a stop if you're nearby!

    Right in the middle of Texas's barbeque capital, Smitty's may be the best barbeque in the state. This place is cash only, but they have an ATM.

    In many states, smitty's would be best. In lockhart, it's in a dead heat with black's for best bbq in town. Brisket pits are breathtaking.

    At Smitty’s they serve up real Texas barbeque: beef that gets a dry rub before getting roasted over an open wood fire pit for 4-6 hours.

    Texas Monthly left them out of the top 50 for a reason. Huge step down compared to Black's/Kreuz.

    My brisket was dry, and lacked taste, rather disappointed, but have heard this has been an issue last year or so here. Was expecting much better, sadly this was well below what I got at Kreuz.

    This place is BYOF (Bring Your Own Fork). They expect you to eat the meat with your hands. So wash up. They do have plastic spoons & knives.
