Don't buy your chocolate or sweets here, too expensive. Buy them somewhere else

    Ben R. · February 5, 2010
  • Rory H.

The best place to visit in Southampton as it allows you to leave.

    Rory H. · December 15, 2011
  • Keeley B.

DON'T get a taxi from outside, they are stupidly expensive. Call one. 02380 666666 is a good one. And quick too.

    Keeley B. · April 7, 2011
  • Natalie W.

For those early morning commutes Costa opens at 6:30 (sometimes earlier) that is outside on the London Bound side.

    Natalie W. · October 20, 2010

    Mike G. · July 22, 2011

They now have a pasty shop next to platform 1. It's more expensive than the one at Waterloo but equally hard to resist!

    James C. · May 3, 2011
  • kpmarek

Quite a variety of direct destinations from here. London, Cardiff, Weymouth, Brighton...

Type 'bite card' into google a they're free with no strings attached - no spam or anything. They give you 20% off food and drinks in all railway station outlets :) very handy for students!!

    🎅Matt B. · October 24, 2011

Contrary to the signs on the ground of platform 1, the paint is not actually wet any more. You can lean against the RSJ with no fear of ruining your clothes with paint marks.

    Shaun S. · June 22, 2012
  • Andy M.

Simon H is correct, this is a perfect place if you are after a train. Very little in the way of garden furniture however.

    Andy M. · October 16, 2011
  • Tim H.

It's horrid. Best thing to do is get on a train and go somewhere else. Even Birmingham New Street...

    Tim H. · September 24, 2010
  • Rob M.

There are two ticket offices at this station. One on the north side and one on the south.

I wish Southern trains could be renamed The Slow Trains. So fellow passengers could be more informed.

    Wai Lun L. · November 18, 2010

The 0800 to London starts as two trains - they join here. So wait around (first half arrives 0752) and there could be more seats at the back!

    Alexander M. · April 30, 2013
  • Anthony T.

The free shuttle bus runs from the station to the city centre and the ferry terminals at Town Quay - total journey time around 15 minutes. Handy service and saves on taxi fees!
