Great food, somewhat busy at times, and can fill up with families, but a pleasant, high end gastropub.

  • Becky W.

Head to the back and find the gorgeous, high-ceilinged dining room. The food is great too.

Reliable, consistent, reasonably priced - St John's is one of the best kept secrets in London. Come hungry!

The mutton pasties at the bar are incredible. Inspired wine list, too.

The pickled whelks were my highlight in this evening of great food, wine, service and atmosphere at the restaurant behind the pub.

Excellent food, lovely place but sometimes I find the staff a little offish and it takes over 40 mins per course to arrive.. Still worth a visit

Really good food but the service was ridiculously slow!

    Yasmin Yazdani · February 24, 2014

Breaded pollock and chips is delicious, so is the pheasant - avoid the breaded halloumi as it's just huge chunks of cheese with no sauce!

    Fiona Maclay Henry · January 20, 2014

Pino Noir was perfect with the rump steak!

Well the Guinness, scotch eggs are good. Like the staff and in general yeah, I recommend it.

Try the rump steak: cooked as asked, comes with two different kinds of mustard, horseradish, roast tomato and chips. Very generous portion, too.

The patatas bravas and the flat bread & humous are not disappointing!

    Daniel Murphy · January 19, 2013
  • Parmis S.

The scallops here are brilliantly tasty. Don't bother with the snails though. The portion is too small to leave any kind of an impression.

The pub is very nice but you have to try the restaurant at the back - the wine list is great, the service is exceptional and the food is sensational! A real gem in gastro pub loaded North London.

Great food, one of THE best food pubs around here if not in fact the best, and there is loads of competition. Check it out.

    Robert Tyson · March 25, 2011

Less conventional menu, worth to try: Dorset snails, pigs head, ox tongue. Don't expect quantity though.
