People tend to check in during these times:
The girl singing at the lectern went rogue. She was belting out show tunes up there. I'm not sure why a Catholic Church in the village feels the need to compete with evangelical services.
9 am is the children's mass. 11:30 am is the high choir mass and 6 pm is the student mass for NYU students.
Simple, appropriate, blindingly white and glass. Modern aesthetics belie the church's heritage as the oldest standing parish in the city. The haze of incense is overwhelming--in the best possible way.
Homilies are relevant, intellectually rigorous, enormously insightful. Consistently. In a city where most parishes are bleeding, this small one is overflowing. Not hard to see why.
