DOT is undergoing a $175 million rehabilitation of the ramps leading into the St. George Ferry Terminal with stimulus funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
The free way to see the statue of liberty from sleightly closer by.
Be smart: on your way to Staten Island stay on the back of the boat and look at Manhattan from the water. When you return, do the same and enjoy a good view of the Statue of Liberty
The River Dock Cafe at the west end of the terminal has a great beer selection and great views.
Walk up the stairs instead of using the escalators
Ferry is free, runs every half hour, has food on the boat. Sit on the back deck in the warm sun for the best seat
Try the ferry!
Very few coffee options. Only seating inside the ferry waiting area.
For tourists, you can still use your NY metro card here
Make sure to stop by Staten Island Arts' Culture Lounge - check out their rotating exhibit space and purchase locally made goods from their artist market!
For the best views and breezes go up to the top level.
Going to see our Lady Liberty
Always has a good view of Manhattan. The city is just so tempting that you couldn't help but get on board the ferry especially that it's free and the short cruise is breathtaking lol! ;)
Here you take the ferry back to Manhattan from Staten Island.
Prepare your cameras folks, amazing view of the #statueofliberty
For the guy who bitched about the bridge toll paying for the ferry. The rest of NYC would happy to remove the bridge and shut down the ferry leaving you the only option of New Jersey.
More homeless people then commuters.
Taking my time, awaiting the next ferry, my job will always be there lol
One tip...uhh..there is no tip. Just enjoy the 25-30 minute trip on the ferry.
Great connection to train to get to other side of the island
Love this trip lol
Take the picture of Manhattan from the back of boat as an island.
Try to go upstairs to the left of the Ferry and work your way to the right n front to get the best view and pics of the statue.
Stay out on the upper deck. Worth the biew of Lady Liberty
For a free ride you can see the best view of the Liberty Statue and Downtown Manhattan.
Always offer your seat to the elderly
On the newer ferries the announcements are the voice of mike Rowe. From dirty job.
3.75 for a beer.
They sell beer here at a rather fine price. Also other less than healthy food stuffs. Better off eating on either terminal for more choices.
For me, lower level provides for street access on NYC side to avoid the mash of the crowd heading for the escalators and stairs.
This is the best way to get from Staten Island to Manhattan without having to drive.
Great view of New York
Fix the fish tanks. They look like Lenin's tomb
People will knock you over just to get on the boat
One of the best views of the Statue of Liberty and of downtown NYC... (It's a free transfer from the subway)
The cello guy near second entrance is just awesome!
Generally quieter than its Manhattan counterpart, it also has better fast food options... Subway and Au Bon Pain
A bunch of bums. Make sure you carry your Wet Ones.
Best free attraction in NYc.
If I was homeless I would sleep here too, Five star hotel!
Another Wonderful! Place you get to know all to well if living in Staten Island and working in the city. Strange people always coming and going through here which mixes up the commute.
What happened to the fishies? Did all the fishies die. Come back!
The aquariums are under construction. Hope the fish are okay!
The view is amazing - Go for a free ride from Manhattan to Staten Island and enjoy the view of the Liberty Statue & Manhattan !
