What a great place to take a train or just watch the world go by. Free wifi, decent coffee and food for a train station. Excellent exterior for photography and thousands of bicycles parked outside!

Forget all the fast food choices and treat yourself instead with a nice book or another nice gift that will nourish your body/mind. And have a beautiful day exploring wild and wonderful Amsterdam!

Is a beautiful historic building. All tram run from central station and are very convenient. If you are a tourist take an unlimited pass and make sure you check out when you leave the tram.

Got the time & a little cash? Upgrade to 1st class if you're on NSHispeed for access to the lounge. Internet isn't free but beer, wine, soda, tea, coffee is. It's worth the calm & comfort sometimes.

Have some minutes time and don't want to spend much? Try the 'Albert Heijn' supermarket opposite the station. Take the west exit, close to the taxi stand and cycle flat, cross the bridge and look righ

Central Station is where everything and everyone in and out of Amsterdam come together, to continue their journeys in all different directions. Stop by Beurs van Berlage and see it glow in pink!

Renovations are finally starting to pay off. Plenty of new stores and food options (go to the Julia's at the very back of the station on the IJ-zijde; there's plenty of seats).

Unlike on the left- and righthand exit of the station, the main exit does not have check-out gates for your public transp. chipcard. Remember to check out at the small pole's yourself!

Convenient station considering it has access to all trains local, regional and inter country. You can take trams and buses from here as well

A beautiful building with a funky clock face that we think shows wind direction. Inside the station, it's like hell on Earth and people walk about with no regard for others. Good luck!

If you see a ferry or you are on a elevated bus platform, then you are probably on the wrong side of the train station. Go back and leave the station at the opposite side where the trams are.

Bring your own broom and help clean the station a bit. The cleaning staff haven't come to an agreement yet and are still refusing to clean anything over there (and I can't blame them)

You need COLD, HARD euro cash to buy an international train ticket here. Unless you have a fancy credit card with a chip, which, for whatever reason, US cards don't have.

Welcome to the Amsterdam central station. In order to build it, the construction workers had to put up three artificial islands that stand on 8687 wooden piles that are dug into sand.

Dutch learning tip: pick up one of the dailies at the entrance (metro, spits) and make a point of trying to read a little bit every day. #itWorks!

For €2.75 you can get a healthy, yummy bacon-chicken sandwich (bruin broodje kip) at HEMA. Well, bacon is not thát healthy but, whatever, it's f***ing good!

Take a look at the front of the building. Lovely and meaningful architecture here, going back to the times of slavery and the discovery of spices, tea, and coffee.

Buy a OVchipkaart And load it with credits for publictransport instead of buying single tickets; easier and useable in the hole of the Netherlands. Looking for a daytrip? Consider Texel.
