    The nearby viaduct is a grade 2 listed structure. A monument to the victorian age. Spectacular view as the train pulls in and out of the station. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stockport_Viaduct

    You can also use the Virgin Rail self service ticket machines to buy tickets to all local stations. Its much simpler and faster to use than the Northern Rail machine.
