The true meaning of this ancient creation has been lost in time. Was it a temple for sun worship, a healing centre, a burial site or perhaps a huge calendar? How did our ancestors carry the mighty stones from so far away and then build this amazing structure? It never fails to impress.

To see rocks all together I'll rather see pyramids (Mexico, Peru, Egypt) that this overrated pile of stones.

Nice, but too expensive (around £15)! Go by your own car in the morning, when its not too crowded, and see it for free beyond the fence.

Incredible to see in person! It felt like I was living in a dream! We missed out on the tour that lets you stand in the center, but even from this distance, it was phenomenal!

Stonehenge is not the only monument at this place. There are at least 5 more monuments a mile from the main attraction. You can find a path to them on the photographs near Stonehenge main stones.

If you going from Reading-Pewsey on train, don't mind the map that refers bus stop B. Plan to walk 5min and get to Bus Stop C by the fire station

It's just a bunch of rocks but I'd still recommend everyone to go there at least once. I was really impressed.

It would be a better experience if you didn't have to share it with just so many other people. And yes, I know I was part of the problem.

    Alistair · April 14, 2015
  • Brad T.

More interested in how they got there and they built them rather than the actual structure itself, which is frankly a little underwhelming.

You can walk to the henge for free. If the entrance fee prevents you from visiting, the henge is 1.4 miles from the visitor centre. The view is more restricted then paying visitors but still worth it.
