$23, $33, or $45 menus start with edamame and include courses like tuna sashimi, albacore tuna, and a toro hand-roll. Eater’s senior critic Robert Sietsema had a promising lunch there opening week. Read more

Incredible sushi at a reasonable price. You'll need to put your name in early and come back later. Totally worth it.

Good, cheap, quick. You usually only get 2 out of 3, and you get the former here. Put your name in at 4 to eat at 730. Or 11:15 to ensure a first seating around 1130a. A la carte is the way to go.

No better deal for sushi that I know of. "Trust Me" omakase is $39, plenty of food and high quality (love the abalone). The Trust Me Lite is perfect for my wifey and only $27 (gratuity inclusive)

Went for the a la carte option and tried the salmon, scallops and sweet shrimp. Everything was amazing but the winner by far was the salmon. Next time - 4 orders of that and I will leave happy.
  • Rachel Z.
I usually get the "trust me." It's a great value for the amount and quality of sushi. I was so excited when I heard sugar fish was coming to nyc. I wish they would open more locations in Manhattan.

Ask to modify your omakase if there's something you don't want or something else catches your eye.

This was one of my fav restaurants when I lived in LA, & I'm so happy they are now in NYC. Just go w/ the trust me and let the chef make all the decisions. Sushi is seriously melt-in-your moth good.

For lunch if you arrive by 11:45am you shouldn't have to wait too long for a table or sit at the sushi bar. Get the Trust Me and add a few more pieces of sashimi that you loved to complete the meal.

Order the Nozawa "trust me" omakase for 2, several bottles of Nozawa sake, and you'll still spend less than in most nyc restaurants
  • Christopher W.
Order the 'Trust Me', a couple bottles of Nozawa sake, and tack on an extra handroll at the end. Great way to treat yourself. Went on a weekday for late lunch and had no wait—seems like the time to go

I'm not a big sushi fan, but I tried the sushi here and it was fantastic! I think the only place I will ever eat sushi is at this place, that's how good it was!
  • Kayleigh H.
Try sharing the large "trust me" menu and then order more of what you loved a la carte. The sushi practically melts in your mouth. Delicious.

Incredible fish quality. Go a la carte and you can't go wrong. Skip the hand rolls. Sugarfish is legit af.

Get there early (before 7) to put your name in and grab a drink around the area while you wait for a table. The fish is delicious and fresh, plus the prices are reasonable for Omakase.

Best sushi in NYC, by far. Worth the wait but get there before 4 on the weekend to significantly reduce your wait time.

Amazing omakase at a very reasonable price. The only thing I didn't like was the blue crab roll - see if you can substitute something else
  • Rubén G.
While there's definitely better omakase in NYC for much more $$$, I have yet to find one as good as sugarfish at this price point. If you've found one let me know where!

The sushi here is fantastic! The service is exceptional, and the prices are fair. I highly recommend giving this place a shot.

Good, solid sushi, a bit expensive for what it is, and certainly not living up to the hype. There are better places, there are worse.

The quality of the sushi is probably the best in the city for the price ("trust me" option is 39.0, very filling and very clean/fresh fish). Main negative is the wait, 2-3 hrs at peak times.

Not amazing and some pieces weren't even that fresh. The sweet shrimp and bay scallops had a nice yuzu and shiso sauce brushed on it, which was good

Sub-par sushi that sadly isn't worth the wait. Definitely not NYC level. Really horrible service where food is basically thrown at you. I was so excited :(

Not the best sushi in NYC but it's a great value. Similar to their locations in LA, menu is simple, sushi is delicious, service is great, and it's relatively affordable. Price includes gratuity.

The only vegetarian options are warm rice, a cucumber roll and edamame. Plan accordingly, fellow veggies.

Ambiance, service, decor all quite lovely. Fish though, was not nearly as fresh as what you get at the Marina Del Rey and Santa Monica locations. Not sure i'd wait the two hours again.

You know how they keep the prices so low? Because they service lesser quality fish than you'd find at other restaurants. They baste the fish with that delicious glaze which gives it that 'OMG' flavor.

If you think Sweetgreen is AMAZING and you can't get enough of Jacks Wife Frieda, then this is the sushi restaurant for you. If you prefer GOOD, authentic sushi then go somewhere else.

SUGARFISH is the best sushi restaurant in NYC. It's been open 3 nights, and it's already true. Lives up to all the LA hype. Put your name down, plan for a long wait. Order the Trust Me. 🍣
