Great history. Very good example of a fortress island. UNESCO world heritage site. Be sure to visit the WWII submarine Vesikko and the lighthouse church as they're asking the few left in the world.

I took my friend to Suomenlinna. He's been there many times before but never had walked all the way to Kustaanmiekka. He was amazed how great place it was! So walk all the way through! It's worth it!

A fun place to spend a day and laugh with your friends. You can ask Onnellisuusopisto (Insitute of Happiness) for a laughing yoga session here to make the day unforgetable :) www.onnellisuusopisto.fi

Great outdoor museum! Take the food basket from home because local cafes are expensive. Two-way ticket is €5 (from Helsinki).

One of the most beautiful place I've been to! The sunset over the Baltic Sea is incredible! Comparable with one on Santorini, not even sure which one I liked more. Landscapes like somewhere in Ireland

Simply the MUST in Helsinki, plan an entire day for the walks, coffees, walks, lunch and more walks. Regardless the weather in the city take a scarf and/or wind jacket.

Picnic places all around the islands. Handicraft shops. Go to the walls at Kustaanmiekka at around 5.15pm to see a big cruise ship sail through the narrow strait between islands.

Best to come visit in summer but winter time gives another more rough, windy and silent atmosphere with little tourists

Beautiful island! Get a picnic and spend half a day. Loads of remote spots for a quiet picnic if you walk further down towards the small beach

Pick up the guide brochure on the ferry or visitor center. It has a map, description of sights, cafés and restaurants, and opening hours.

Every day between 9 and 10 in the morning and 5 to 5:30 in the afternoon Helsinki - Stockholm ferries pass the Kustaanmiekka strait close to the King's gate.
