Sydney domestic is fab. Tap House has good food, virgin lounge is very comfy (go the vege risotto) and there's a Witchery, and Mimco too. I know it's not cool to love an airport - but I do!

When going through security, prepare before you get to the point, there's nothing worse than someone in front of you chucking their $600 in coins, belt and watch in a tray while 682 people stand there

Avoid sitting in an aisle seat when you notice the Virgin flight attendant has ass larger than the aisle. I had the unpleasant experience of being slammed by one 23 times during a flight. Concussed?

VIRGIN BLUE: If you arrival extra early for your flight you can qualify for a free upgrade to an earlier flight. You must ask. Check the upgrade is free (mine was) :-)

If you're looking for plain white toast without costing an arm and a leg, go to Pie Face they do white toast with bread and honey for $3.50 (no jam, get it from maccas)

If you have no luggage, and have already checked in online, take advantage of the no cue security point on the ground level past the car rental. Great for when your in a rush.

Power point at gate 39 doesn't work and staff at the cafe near that gate are so rude. Almost wanted to throw my $10 croissant at her after she told me to piss off when I complained it wasnt toasted

If you ever leave something on a Virgin Australia flight, make sure to check Baggage Services next to Carousel 3 in the baggage claim area..just picked up my wallet, Bible and book that I left behind!

To save waiting too long in traffic to collect passengers try Qantas dropoff area on upper level, on inner road beside carpark. No orange men, so you can wait without being booked.

If you're going into the city and returning to the airport on the same day, train tickets are $23 when purchased at the window and not the automatic machines (they charge $30).

I love the hullabaloo when a big plane comes in on a wet day. The 767 that just came in kicked up palls of spray in full reverse thrust. Spectacular old girl she is. See photo

Gate 34 is wonderful. Try and get a seat near the vending machines so you can't see the TV. It's also the optimal spot for screaming toddler audio enjoyment.
    Josh Bryer · September 2, 2011

All the ATMs in the terminal are ANZ. There's a Westpac machine in the train station if you don't want to stuff more cash into Sydney Airport Corporation's greedy maw.
    Paul Wallbank · September 3, 2013

Coffee or a snack? Head down to Aromas near gate 47. Cheap, pretty good and a ton less people than the terminal's other offerings. Shhh... It's a secret!
    Ken K · February 28, 2011

If you want some peace and quiet while you wait (which cannot be found in the Qantas Club) try the regional airline gates. The pace is slower out there.

Check the wallet, you may have that virgin blue card... proceed for self-checkin. Also, make sure 2 check out the mobile sites of Qantas/Virgin/Jetstar for barcode boarding passes..have a safe flight.

When security screening queues are long, do as the operators say and remove aerosol cans, not doing will result in you being seated next to a screaming baby on every flight for the next 7 years.

Similar to any domestic airport, smaller and but dodgier than international. Though Pie Face and a flat white from Toby Estate makes up for it

Parking is a rip off. If you are picking up passengers, buy a coffee at the Maccas or Krispy Creme outside the airport and have them call you when they are ready.

You can pass security and board in with your own water bottle! And you have free water spots just next around boarding gates! So convenient!

Get cash out before you arrive - taxis charge 10% for eftpos and only ANZ ATMs live in the terminal. Maccas may do cashout if you're lucky

When flying Virgin Blue sit as close to the front or back of the plane as possible. Sit around the exit row in the middle and it takes ages to get off. :)

Walk right past the food court if it's a busy day, there are emptier cafes with their own seating on the way to the gates in both directions.

If you don't want to be 'selected at random' for explosive dusting at the scanner walk behind me. I always get dusted. Every single time. Ever.

If arriving into SYD at night try NOT to take cabs when there are many people about. The system of getting one is inefficient and slow.

If you're running late for your Jetstar flight, check in at the Qantas Club and sweet talk the reception staff. It works every time.

If ya get here just a little bit before the final baggage check in time, say, 10 mins, you could luckily be called to the front of the pathetically long queues!

The toilets near the gates are possibly the most disgusting airport toilets I have ever come across. Use the toilets in the Virgin Australia Lounge instead.

Kiosk self check-in →baggage drop off →head to departure gates →board plane & that's it ! Check in and baggage drop off barely took 5 mins ! Thumbs up for #jetstar #sydneyairport

When flying on a plane. Always wear clothes! I hate being told to put my pants back on! What's the point of all the gym work if I have to wear pants! I am serious. This is a vital tip!

The good Allpress coffee is at Quickshots. Decent coffee and a seat overlooking the tarmac. As good as it gets at the airport.

After four consecutive JetStar flights Ive decided that a job requirement must be the inability to smile. Every last bloody customer service rep has been miserable. It can't be that bad!

Pick up a T2 Domestic Special Offers (Christmas 2010) booklet as there are reasonable offers on food in it. It looks like a block of post-it notes.
