The duty-free section is obnoxiously long but, once you leave it, you won't be able to buy any other food / drink.

For exec plat and above status look for the American flagship check in on the far right. Much faster. Ask them to perform the security check.

The dumbest way to setup an airport of all time. Your gate isn't announced until 30 minutes before boarding, so every single person sits in a main waiting area surrounded by a mall. Oh and no plugs.

Heathrow is huge and that makes it amazing. The shopping at Terminal 3 is fantastic, lots of designers and a smooth experience. I only wish there was a Marks & Spencer or Gordon Ramsey food outlet

Security here is much worse than anything in the U.S. They will toss the contents of bags for no reason at all.

Long walk from Central terminal to T3, long queue for VAT refund, long walk from security to AA gate. Departing from Heathrow is a promised exhausting experience, as always.

Not a bad terminal. Make sure you go through duty free as they seem to have the best booze in all terminals. Loads of lounge to choose from if you have status.

If you are hungry, make sure to get some before leaving the duty free shops and restaurants area. Once you pass that, there isn't any other place to get food..

Go at least 1 - 2 hours earlier than the usual 2 hours if you want to claim VAT. Do not pack away your purchases. Worse VAT refund systems I've ever experienced in my life.

If you're trying to get a VAT refund, make sure you have every single item with you or the customs will deny the refund on the total amount (and be rude about it too).
