People tend to check in during these times:
This tri-level venue brings in must-see acts, from Lady Gaga toThe Gossip. Tip: Stake out a spot at the back of the main floor's bar; you'll get perfect views of the stage and easy-access to beer.
Huge venue, huge shows. Bars on each floor, beware the makeshift bar on the first floor and go directly to the REAL bar unless you're just ordering a beer. Also beware of craigslist fake tickets!
The best bathrooms in a music venue ever – complete with attendants! In warm weather, the roof deck is where it’s at.
Originally an old factory, this three story venue hosts some of the biggest indie bands in town. For the best seats in the house, get here early and snag a table on one of the mezz levels--the third f
Rooftop has hamburgers & a bar when open. Take advantage before the show. Also, bathrooms at the back with no bathroom attendant... if they make you feel awkward.
WORST venue in the City. Terrible lines to get in/bad crowd control, terrible layout and sightlines, crazy coat check lines, soo smoky, so awful.
see your favorite band anywhere but here.
This is one of the largest venues for live music in NYC, so it can get quite crowded – think lines galore. The acoustics are ok, but they do get great headliners.
Mixed feelings about this venue. Somewhat annoying to navigate. If you are in a chill mode, great some rail space up stairs, otherwise rage the floor.
People over 6 feet tall should be required to stand in the back
Right in Hells Kitchen, be sure to check out their huge stage where every artist plays at one point in his/her career. Security can be tough, but the sound inside the venue is worth it!
Best place to stand is along the wall facing the stage in front of the bottom floor back bar. Get there early to snag a spot on thr elevated part.
When I am at terminal5 I go to the American retro bar and grill. They give me $1 off drafts and cocktails before and aftervthe show. Just show your ticket. Coolness!
Worst venue ever.
Get here before the headliner starts. If you're lazy you won't have a great sight line!
Saw NIN, The XX and Hot Chip here. Intimate venue but unless you get there early and grab a good spot close to the stage, you're stuck staring at screens all night long!
This is where LCD Soundsystem played 5 lead-up shows to their swan song at Madison Square Garden.
I only come here when I really have to. Worse venue in NYC. Horrendous.
There are two lines for coat check! More dancing less standing in line!
Worst Venue EVER! Go early. Wear heels or have a growth spurt. Otherwise, you aren't seeing anything, but a fuzzy TV screen all night. I asked for my money back.
Seen several shows here, not in total agreement with comments on acoustics. The first level up has good sound, good bar and great view of stage.
Worst venue ever. Stay away!
Security at the front is needlessly dickish. I swear my friend's half a piece of pie is not contraband
Don't come here if you actually want to see the band or hear them on good speakers.
One of my least favorite venue's in NYC. They have the unfriendliest security that you will find anywhere. The sound can be hit or miss. Only go if you really REALLY love the band.
Maybe it's a rare occurrance, but the accoustics really weren't terrible when The New Pornographers played here.
A huge space where to enjoy both amassing musicians and acts that range from theatre to art.
If you're not pressed up against bodies in the pit you're pressed up against the railing just to lean down and see the show. Worst venue in NYC to see a show - glad they moved PiL to Brooklyn...
Just plant yourself at the bar toward the back of the main floor. It's elevated about a foot or so above most of the crowd, so you've got a straight sightline to the stage with easy-access to booze.
Explore the upper levels of this club for the best view.
When you take a cab to terminal 5, make sure the driver won't take you to the airport.
So, my GF had a thai chicken wrap and a cookie left over from dinner. Security wouldn't let her in with either nor let her give them to a homeless person. Security kept the cookie, tossed the wrap:)
Arrive early:on time: wait on long lines. Arrive after doors open and you have to squeeze in behind the back bar. They over sell for sold out shows. Terrible range of view of stage as it is Meh sound
Since it's illegal to charge for ice water, they keep a cooler with cups on the back side of second floor. Hidden clean bathrooms too!
The updated sound installation is way legit! SO loud!!!
Great venue but scary security. Be prepared to get searched hardcore. Don't carry a bag and dress light if you don't wanna get fondled.
Good venue but expect a mouth full of (someone else's) hair at one point or another.
The only water available is from the bottle for five dollars, don't even have tap anywhere !
the acoustics truly are terrible. a lot of great people play here but it never sounds as great as it should. can't get a decent beer and the crowd is always full of douche bags.
Seriously? The best beer you have is Heineken? And it is 7 dollars? It isn't that hard to stock good beer.
Crap acoustics. Bars on upper floors are e-z pass. Lots of banquettes for make out sesh
Avoid it unless it's your only chance to see your favorite band. Poorly laid out for the capacity. Muddy sound and poor lines of sight. Bowery or MHOW are the real gems.
Very big venue, sound is great at the barricade! Bathrooms have a sagely old gentleman hooking you up with cologne, paper towels, and soaps... Classy!
The bar in the back is always easier to get to. Also there is no credit card minimum if you're nice...
The third floor is definitely the place to be.
Great place for music, but hot as a bastard in the summer. Someone get a A/C up in this piece.
If you're under 5'5'' wear stilts.. chances of actually seeing a performance are slim to none.
