Leave at least 30 mins to get through security and passport control when it's busy.
For evening international departures, if you are not flying SAA check in at Terminal A as required. But then walk 5 minutes to Terminal B. much shorter security and immigration queues there late.

Make sure you don't bring any juice or water through passport control. I could have just thrown it away, but guzzling 500ml of juice under security's watchful eye seemed like a good idea at the time.
